Looking for an all-out, chaotic, no-holds-barred brawl?

Close on the back of the last PvP tournament, <Empire> will be hosting a Battle Royale-style PvP tournament in a week's time. This will be a free-for-all tournament with the last person standing taking everything home. The wrinkle is that the Battle Royale will take place in multiple rounds of successively greater length, with participants eliminated only after 3 deaths. We are going to limit participation in the tournament to 30 toons in order to ensure a reasonable framerate for participants. Signups will open on Tuesday at 8 PM EST to give people time to scrounge up the entry fee, which, after consideration, we've lowered to 50,000 credits.

Where/when: Outlaw's Den, 9 PM EST Saturday December 15
Format: Multiple-round Battle Royale with triple elimination
Prize: Winner takes the entry pot plus a secret special item donated by <Empire>
Entry fee: 50,000 credits

Further details and tournament rules will be posted below shortly, so check back!

Details and rules for <Empire> hosted Battle Royale PvP Tournament

Participation

There are no class/build restrictions. This is last man standing. Pick your targets strategically.

We will limit the number of combatants to 30 in order to allow an acceptable framerate for the contestants. Enter early! Signups begin at 8:00 PM EST on Tuesday 11 December. Please sign up by in-game mail to Selene'Athena (empire) or Keira'Athena (republic). Include the name of your participating toon and list your guild(s), and attach the 50,000 credit entry fee.

We ask spectators to be respectful, as always, and not interfere in any way with the action.

We also need a small number of volunteers from both sides to help monitor the fight and rez contestants. Especially if you play a healing class and would like to help organize the tournament, please send an in-game mail to Selene'Athena (empire) or Keira'Athena (republic). If you have healing toons on both factions please list your available toons. You must be able to get on Mumble to help with monitoring the tournament.

Round structure

There will be an indefinite number of rounds. The rounds get longer each time by 1 minute, starting from 1 minute for the first round. If you die in the duration of a round, you are not immediately eliminated - just down and out for the rest of the round. You are eliminated after 3 deaths in total. We will try to keep time between rounds reasonably short - under 2 minutes - so if you die and rez out (which you shouldn't need to do) please run back as soon as possible. You will be credited for a death if it takes too long to return to the pit and we've started the next round without you.

The last contestant left alive in the pit in the final round (the round when everybody but the winner has died 3 times) wins the tournament and all prize money, as well as a special item donated by <Empire>.

Hazards

A couple <Empire> members not involved in the fighting will be tasked with placing AOE hazards randomly in the pit from time to time. This may include orbital strikes and stealth scans, for example. We ask that spectators refrain from following suit.

Combat rules

1. Each contestant must leave their guild for the duration of the tournament.

2. Contestants may not be grouped with anyone. Cooperation is inevitable, but nobody involved in the fight may actually be grouped with one another. To maintain the integrity of the tournament, we will have monitors on both factions sending random group invites to the contestants.

3. To start each round, contestants will stand at the southern edge of the pit and jump down when the countdown is finished. All contestants must be visible until the fight is started (stealthers can use stealth, but only after they enter the pit). Everybody must be out of combat until they enter the pit; therefore abilities that put other players in combat cannot be used until entering the pit. Doing so will credit you with a death immediately.

4. All fighting must take place in the pit. Anybody who leaves the pit (including standing on the stairs) will be credited for a death immediately. If players are knocked or pushed out of the pit they can jump back in immediately, but this is ultimately up to our discretion.

5. Death is death. Unfortunately, in this tournament format we cannot adjudicate DCs and other legitimate, non-combat reasons for dying during the fight.

6. Breaching rule 1 or 2 at any time incurs an automatic disqualification from the whole tournament.

Rezs are only going out between rounds and since you only get three deaths before you're out rez timers shouldn't be too long, we expect people not to be going afk during the rounds so I would assume it'd be up to the judges to choose to DQ somebody if they're taking to long to rez for being afk /unresponsive. Mind you I'm not the one running this but from what I've over heard this seems pretty spot on.

This is basically right. I've amended the language in the "round structure" section to be more clear. Once you die, you wait out the rest of the round. When it's over, you'll join an ops group on your faction and one of our volunteers will throw you a rez.
