I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this but being new, I thought I'd ask here. Given that both the Jedi Guardian and the Sith Juggernaut are capable of DPS builds, beyond the aesthetics of dual blades, is there a point to the Sentinel and Marauder specialisations? What value are they bringing to the classes that the other specialisations don't? This isn't a moan, I'm just curious

I'm not an expert on Guardian dps, but good Sentinels can crank it out just about as good as anyone.

Guardians can tank, if you want to do that, and they have some pvp utility (taunts) that make them useful in pvp even as a dps spec.

I'm not an expert in PvP, but I think if that's what you're most interested in, then Guardian would get the edge. If you just want to dps in PvE, then I'd recommend Sentinel. If you think you might want to tank, then go Guardian and try out different specs (subscribers can respec for free).

Their DPS is among the most sought after 'cus it's high & they get group buffs that are highly appreciated as well

No, you both misunderstand. I've researched builds and the Guardian and the Juggernaut can pump out almost as much DPS as a Sentinel and Marauder, there seems very little in it and whilst you can't tank as much as a pure tank, you can still tank more on the tank builds than the DPS builds, so what's the point? What I'm basically asking is why people go for these specialisations? Or am I missing something?

If you mean PvP then yeah both can pump out similar dps but for PvE then Sent / Mara dps is greater + they have a buff that gives you & your entire party +15% dmg & healing for a while so people go for these for the dps, and their defensive cooldowns in pvp are fun

Thanks, that answers my question
