Powershot vs Tracer Missle

So it seems to me right now @ lvl 26 Power shot and tracer missile have the same heat and casting time. They benefit from the same talent bonus'. But Tracer missile adds a debuff to the target. Why would I ever use power shot if they do the same damage??

Tracer Missile is kinetic damage, so itself should not profit from the debuff it applies. Power Shot on the other hand definitly benefits from the armor debuff.

But remember one thing, missile crits vent 8 heat - so while power shots is better damage wise when the debuff is up, the missiles might still be the better option in some scenarios.

if u read the armor rating description into the character panel it say: armor reduces the amount of damage suffered from kinetic and energy attacks.

so tracer missiles as kinetic dmg should benefit from the armor reduction debuff and the 35% armor penetration of high velocity gas

Afaik there's no reason to use Power Shot once you've gotten Tracer Missiles.

Incorrect. Hybrid Mercenaries (decent amount of points in both Bodyguard and Arsenal) benefit from Power Shot a bit more than tracer missle, mainly when Supercharged Gas is active, in combination with muzzle fluting makes power shot cost -NOTHING-

Before that though, they use tracer missiles to apply/keep up the duration on the armor debuff.
