Is the difference between these two just one has more dmg and the other has more utility?

Im just asking from a pvp stand point. I know currently smash is a good spec for both. are juggs brought to wz's for dps over maras? (high end pvp)

Marauder is a pure DPS class... they dish out the hurt with two lightsabers
Jugg has not so much dps (even dps specced), but can be specced to be tanks, with a tank stance, shield generators, heavy armour etc.

The 2nd recourse generating ability differs as Maras get to add 6 rage, so they can use one more rage consuming abilitity, the jugg reduces armour with his 2nd ability which make every attack hit for more.

On top of that: Mara is said to be more challanging to play right, because you have to manage not only your resources (Rage) but also know when to activate and use your defensive abilities.

In pvp the Maras are regarded as top of the line because of their ability "Undying rage" which gives them a 99% mitigation against ALL types of attacks/damage sources at the cost of 50% of current hitpoints. duration is 4.5 secs. which translates roughly to 2 extra abilities usable. In pvp great in PVE probably not so (much).
Helps in a oh SH... situation to have your healer put some green on you, but it shines in PVP because you can prevent capping for 5secs more, bind other peeps etcetc.

I personally have difficulties deciding. I currently have an annihilation spec mara and a vengance spec jug... I am still not sure (both lvl 20..ish) I do find the clobberclobberclobber of the mara tiresome, on the other hand tanking is an option with the jugg, but i do it not really (which translates to clobberclobberclobber with my jugg as well)...

Anyway tha is what I can tell you...
I would therefore go SNIPER, THAT is a fun class

If you're looking for lolsmash, go with the jug. It has:

Heavy Handed (Increase Smash damage by 8%)
Single Saber Mastery (Increase Force damage by 6%)
Dreadnaught (Increase Strength by 6%)
Unstoppable (prevent all CC for 4 seconds after Force Charge)

These are all great lolsmash talents that a Marauder does not have.

A lolsmash that goes into Immortal for Heavy-Handed is more lol than other Smashers. Unstoppable is also not advised for Smashers, since it strips you of your main way to get Singularity charges, as well as timed delayed burst with the final Crush tick.

Blatant misinformation.

Smash Juggs, raw damage wise, do as much if not more (exact rotational quirks such as cheaper Slash and Shii-Cho Berserk) damage than Smash Marauders.

Vengeance is about equal to Annihilation (Watchman and Vigilance guildies parse between 2200 and 2300 in pve constantly) in terms of singletarget damage, and is harder to maximize at higher levels (juggling DoTs between Ravage procs can get very exciting).

Heavy armour means jack. Armour bonus alone is about 5% apart from medium. Not even mentioning that everyone and their mother either does a lot of Elemental/Internal damage, or has significant armour penetration. Damage reduction skills/talents have a lot better effect.

As far as utility is concerned, both have solid utility. Jugg has Taunts, taleted free AoE slow with 0 cooldown (makes enemies weep) and amazing mobility thanks to 2 baseline jumps and 1 baseline charge reset with Push, while Marauder sports very strong defensive cooldowns, along with Fury skills (Predation and Berserk are its go-to abilities, but Bloodthirst can also be good, if applied right - the cooldown is kinda discouraging though).

Exactly what this guy said. I prefer marauder a bit over my jug but that is my play style. I also hate the lolsmash build but it is viable and more in every sense so if you want spec into it and try it. I prefer to play carnage marauder with annihilation a very close second then immortal jug. An Immortal jug when played right will make most dps run away because even though they you may not be able to kill them they can't kill you either. It's like a war of attrition and they are good defenders as would be expected from a tank. Marauders are a bit more glass cannon though not as squishy as some people might have you believe. They have excellent defensive cd's that should be used for offense and defense.

When people bring juggs to rated wz are they pure tanks or dps as well? (high rated)

Usually, it's lolsmash Juggs (DPS), or hybrid Vengeance tank Juggs for guarding nodes or acting as a healer's bodyguard.
