The 1.4 shadows optimization patch was junk code, dude (as have been most updates since 1.2). Until that code is either dug out of the engine, or correctly modified, and actually optimized, the stuttering will continue for many us (AND NO, THIS IS NOT EXCLUSIVE TO SLI) that are suffering from the game breaking problem. I've got 2 computers with different hardware (both ATI though) that are single GPU machines and it's the same nonsense on both computers. EAware broke the engine with slipshod coding, but who knows if they'll get around to fixing it before this game dies due to amateur hour management and seemingly corporate indifference.
