i saw this link on torhead,

it seems to suggest that you can RE custom built weapons and learn schematics from them, is this true?

if so, how?

You can't RE those weapons. The prefixes shouldn't be there, but Torhead doesn't differentiate between orange and non-orange schematics.

you can reverse engineer them.
but you can not research them.

(I believe that is the terminology distinction that Bioware has used in the past. "researchable" meaning you have the potential to learn a schematic when you reverse engineer it)
