It's good you can get criticalls from lockboxes and on flashepoints and operations you can open upp new routs for your party to go So it is actually prity good and you can make a lot of money, and if you chose i think tresure hunting you get a lot of lockboxes to crit on and get sh** tone of money

grade 2 = level 17-24 = skill 81-150
grade 3 = level 25-32 = skill 151-225
grade 4 = level 33-42 = skill 226-300
grade 5 = level 43-48 = skill 301-339
grade 6 = level 49-50 = skill 340-400
grade 9 = level 51-55 = skill 401-450
grade 11 = level 56-60 = skill 451-500

Now there is some overlap between grades. i.e. you can continue to run grade 6 missions and get skill points to 410.
This was changed when crew skills got overhauled in patch 4.0 (grades 1 through 8) and patch 4.1 (addition of grade 9), and again in 5.0 (added grade 10)
from the patch 4.0 patchnotes:
Quote:
Here is a detailed breakdown: •Grade 1: Level 10-16: 0-80
•Grade 2: Level 16-24: 80-160
•Grade 3: Level 24-32: 160-240
•Grade 4: Level 32-40: 240-300
•Grade 5: Level 40-46: 300-350
•Grade 6: Level 46-51: 350-400
•Grade 7: Level 51-55: 400-450
•Grade 8: Level 55+: 450-500
They didn't give an updated range in the patch notes for 4.1 or 5.0, but it's basically just a continuation, so now:
Grade 8: Level 55-60: 450- 500
Grade 9: Level 60-65: 500-550
Grade 10: Level 65-70: 550-600

As before, you can continue to gain crew skill points for making lower grade stuff after unlocking a new grade (IOW, you can still gain points for making tier 1 stuff after you hit 80 skill and unlock tier 2). But from a purely "leveling" standpoint, it's best to visit the trainer and start on the new tier as soon as you unlock it. Fastest leveling for crafting skills is just making the "component" that you use to make actual stuff. And as soon as you hit 80, or 160, or whatever, go the the trainer, learn the new "component" and just make those till you hit the nest tier.
