Recommended gear level for EC HM?

What do people find is a good minimum for gear for EC HM? Is full Rakata enough? Most folks in our guild have a mix of Rakata and Black Hole pieces, and we're having a hard time putting out enough DPS.

The initial clears were in unaugmented rakata. So yes, that's all you need.

If you provide combat logs we could perhaps help explain why you're having DPS issues. But gear wise, rakata is enough.

For HM EC, you will want 23+k HP on the tanks, the DPS does 1600+ dps on the traiing dummy, and your 2 healers can output 1200 hps without resource issues. Note that this is all achievable with unaugmented Rakata provided you optimize the mod and augments slots.

To be fair there have been some changes since the operation was released, most notably the nerf to stacking armor debuffs on mobs.

Of course there have been a lot of other changes since 1.2 that were nothing but pure buff so that more than balances out and unagumented (which isn't to say unoptimzed) Rakata is indeed probably just fine for EC HM.
In update 2.9 the game will simply uninstall itself for you.

Wouldnt really say 1600+ dps is needed on combat training dummy, 1200-1300 is more than enough imo (factor in the tanks dps as well). It depends of course, if the dps you're running with have really bad uptime on the bosses, then yeh, you're gonna have issues. By this, I mean concealment operatives, deception assassins etc etc.

Augmented rakata is more than enough, itemize it and its easy :-)

EC was never to hard dps wise, its hard mechanicswise. If someone fails on the mechanics, you fail the raid. The gearcheck isnt really that hard (imo).

Which bosses in particular are you having problems on?
Bållsdeep - Powertech Pyrotech
Amazeballs - Deception Assassin
7 Republic 55s
10 Imperial 55s

EC HM can be done in Rakata (as mentioned) but that is assuming everyone in the group knows what they're doing and actually does it properly. Getting some BH/Campaign gear will help give you more of a cushion for error and help the weaker group members but even still, gear only helps so much.

Good question for the OP to answer to get more applicable advice.

From my experience optimized Rakata gear is enough for HM EC. If you have money to augment your tanks gear, do it.

EC is all about tactics.

'Stock Rakata' is very poorly itemized. A tank in stock Rakata will have far too much accuracy, and not enough def/shield/abs.

Until everyone is very familiar with the fight, you dps will lose about 20% of their maximum dps during operation due to movement, mistakes, etc. This is why I recommended 1600 dps as a minimum, otherwise you will have enrage problem, be unable to take down the bomb probe, the bomber, or the walker in 3 phases. A 23K tank HP is needed for Kephess, as it's possible for him to hit a tank for 18-20k with savage slash, and during that phase your healer will need to output at least 1200 hps.

Those numbers are what my guild needed to clear HM EC, it is definitely possible to do it with less.
