It is pretty simple.
Charge me for a content update and i will leave.
Charge me for a true expansion and i will pay.

This is pretty much the CoD problem. Suddenly it was ok to pay for map packs. Something we always got for free we had to buy now. Glad i never played CoD ^^

lol guess im not resubbing then. The fact that they would even consider charging for that after 6+ months with almost NO content updates (Legacy doesnt count) is just mind bogglin.

Indeed it is but the thing is that we have paid around $135 up to this point and we only have: 3 main game updates, a temporary unique items vendor, 2 events and access to the core game in my opinion Makeb should be thrown in with those because that doesn't scream worth $135 to me, I see it as more worth $30 to $40.

It's been real but the game just wasn't worth the sub for me anymore.

You want voice acting in your game, a well written story for 8 classes well your development cost just went up...
they should be charging for this content.

Its world arc story. They said there will be no class story. I dont know about you, but I found the world arcs to be mostly boring.

It's going to be impressive. We have our Update 1.2 coming in the next week and then after that it's going to continue to roll out month after month. It's exciting."

My best guess, is that the first "expansion" for swtor will be a RADICAL departure from what we have seen with the game to this point. They will get FTP up and running and then they will focus on a "re-launch" of the game hopefully opening it up a bit from its current on rails themepark model.

I think we will see the expansion next spring or summer, it could be even longer than that. In order to open they game up the changes needed to be made are nothing short of colossal and will take time and money. If FTP doesnt do well this game is finished, simple as that.

Im doing just fine too. Its not a matter of affording 10 bucks its the shady business behind it. Calling it a mini expansion is just PR spin to say we are charging you for a content update, that your sub money should theoretically pay for, but we need more money.

Yeah, this sums it up for me as well. I have no problem with the amount of money. What I have a problem with is the principle behind the money. I just don't feel that a sub is worth access to OP's, FP's, WZ and a stipend for the cash shop if we are going to be nickle and dimed for every content patch that follows after that. Yes the game needs money but it shouldn't be basically on the backs of the subscribers who over time are probably making a larger contribution to the game already.
Asani - Sorcerer / Kishira - Mercenary / Liexa - Sniper
Dead Server Refugee - Empire - Jedi Covenant (EST/PVE)

Love, like or hate the game try to remember that Opinion != Fact.

I am a bit miffed about the new "maybe we'll charge, maybe we won't" comment about Makeb, but not upset as I think that would be premature.

If Makeb comes bundled with a load of content that is more like an expansion, I wouldn't mind paying for it if the price was reasonable. But I'm talking substantially more than a couple of content patches, here. Otherwise, what is my subscription for? In this day and age, I hardly believe it is for server upkeep. I imagine, perhaps erroneously, that we pay money to play an MMO so it can be regularly improved and updated with new content instead of just forever existing in the state it did at launch.

But we haven't been getting a lot of content updates these past months, so if I got the feeling they were "saving up" all the stuff that "should" have been dished out gradually in patches and then calling it an expansion and selling it, I would be rather put off. So if they come out with an expansion in a few months (during which we get a whopping 1 new Op and 1 new WZ, and maybe some bug fixes) that includes Makeb, HK-51, playable Cathar, and a new FP, I'm probably gonna have to call shenanigans.

This is just my opinion though, I realize and respect that other people have a different concept of how subscriptions should work.
