any game where you can use a pad will always be more action packed no one liked the RPS combat style but mainly i think that was because they kept getting there asses handed to them in PvP because they couldn't adapt to twich based combat instead of rotation based combat

Go to 4:50 for some edge of your set EQ combat. It way way slower pace the WoW. This is what I mean, Combat before was set up so you could basically keep talking while you were fighting.

WoW you are at least busy hitting stuff.

Like i said, if you haven't played the older style games you won't know what I'm talking about because you don't know how stale they were combat wise.

This is after being changes alot ot be more like WoW. I can't even find videos of EQ on launch day but back then you would have to sit down and rest after ever rat

Aion is still going really, really well in Asia, which is why I qualified my statement by saying 'Western' audiences.

Aion wasn't gonna do well in N. America though for the same reason Lineage and Lineage II don't... it's too hard for N. Americans and they can't concentrate or grind hard enough like the Asians.

In many ways, WoW is like Lineage II in easy mode. It just has "quests" to bypass alot of grind time and has almost no penalty to dying.

first ever MMO i ever played was called myth of soma that was a 2D dame the combat in that was very slow paced you lot items xp when you died each weapon had to be levelled up separately from that i went to SWG and the combat in that was totally different i think that's my 2nd best combat style

Aion didn't do well in the west because NCSoft didn't listen to NCSoft NA about what their userbase would play.

It depends on what people think is easy mode.

For some reason people get easy boring grind of the same easy enemies for 12 hours straight confused with hard.

It's not HARD, lol. It's a boring, and mind numbing mob grind. Asians must be stuck in the UO era, without the extras. If that's the case, SWTOR could do well in the asian market if it lowered the drop rates drastically, and quadrupled the credit grind.

Most people I know aren't going to play a game where all you do is run around slaughtering NPCs. They'd rather have something more immersive while providing a sense of ownership, and connection to their character.

So in other words... N. Americans are lazy and want an "instant level" button instead of doing the work necessary to level.

Which is basically what "quests" are... instant XP by pressing a button.
