new guardian. need advice on crew skills.

Jedi Knights have no use for Armortech, it is designed for Smug/Trooper/IA/BH. For Jedis/Sith you want Synthweaving (armor), Artiface (color crystals) or Biochem (stims/medpacks)

 

*edit* for the crew skills to go with these main skills (i.e. the gathering) check your codex by pressing L and selecting the codex tab at the bottom, assuming you have clicked the vendor and have got the codex entry it should tell you all you need

Artifice also makes shields\foci, and lightsaber hilts.

 

You also forgot Cybertech. Stun grenades and armorings are quite handy.

 

 

 

As for the OP, I used Biochem when I levelled my Guardian - zero complaints.

I'm have Artifice and Archeology right now. I'm still trying to decide on a third crew skill. I'm between treasure hunting and diplomacy.

 

I have Artifice and Archeology as well. If I were you, I would go diplomacy. The only reason to have treasure hunting is to get gemstones to make "special" yellow color crystals.
