At what point does making a class that has high damage, massive defensive bonuses and range seem a good idea?

I can't even leap to a sniper in cover because... Magic? Because BioWare doesn't want them to be beatable?

Yes but get through the cover and have a semblance of skill and they are history. I imagine the point of preventing certain closers on cover is because it would invalidate them as soon as you got into range 100% of the time.

About since the same time when ranged nukers with heavy armor and healing got in... Or stealth tanks... or leaping saber monkeys for that matter.

Translation:

I got shot in the face by a Sniper like the dude with the giant sword in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Each class has it's strengths and weaknesses. As Georg mentioned some time ago, if you charge directly at an entrenched Sniper, you are going to die. It's like charging a machine gun nest head on and complaining that you got shot to pieces.

I presume you play a SithWarrior/Jedi Knight?

Its not hard to force them out of cover tbh..we've got all the tools to do it!

As Narien pointed out running to them from the front (or if he gots you in his crosshair) isn't a smart idea.

In general I tend to engage them from the sides if they havent noticed/targetted me yet.

If they did i use Force Choke/Stasis wich immidiatly cancels their cover mechanic, and charge in after -> Dead Sniper/Smuggler

Other wise i force push them and then charge with equal results.

I find Snipers/Smugglers saber fodder tbh, they cant shake me we have all the tools to deal with them.

I honestly have no problem with snipers as a trooper.

However, it's like any class in this game.. if the player is good then all classes are a threat.

It helps with me being awesome.

Snipers are quite possibly the worst class in the game right now, aside from maybe marauder pve.

Yes if you stand at 35 yards in front of them, you're going to die.

If you poke them once with anything, they will die, be unable to do anything, and basically just flail around helplessly.

This also happens during leveling.
