Probably the same people who need a healer who charges to run a flashpoint or heroic group quest...

That being said, I think this may have actually been said before 1.2 dropped, so it's quite possible this fell off the table at some point.
Yeah...WTH happened to this? How about an update, devs?

Who are you to ASSUME what "NEED" means to another player?

See what Im getting at? I feel your pain, you lost a roll, so do what the rest of us do, RUN IT AGAIN. Its really that simple.

And please, enough with the whole "LAZY" argument, its not a valid response to your issue at hand.

The only things you really need are air, water, food, and shelter. In that order. Everthing else is a want, and in the context of a video game everything is a want. Splitting hairs on a term that the MMO gaming system decided to use for their roll prioritization system is just being a douchebag.

Really MMOs should have adopted a Class/Role/Craft and Trade rolling system.

Class/Role/Craft - can only be selected if they are the appropriate class or have the appropriate tradeskill (and don't already know the pattern, if they do then they roll Trade for it). Higest priority roll and binds item.
Trade - this is the lowest priority roll for vendoring and selling in the GTN/AH/whatever. BoE items remain BoE.

Essentially that is what a certain other game actually finally implemented after 7 years. It still has flaws due to other features that they implemented or did as of my last played date.

Just go into the pvp section if you think he is a whiner.

My friend and I queued together, she was on her Jedi Sage and I was on my Jedi Sentinel, the run itself went very smoothly, right up until the final boss.

When it was downed, it dropped the Token piece for a set of the JEDI KNIGHT/SITH WARRIOR specific Tier gear. Naturally, as this was an upgrade for my character, I needed it... as did the tank, who was a Jedi SHADOW, a class which cannot even use/trade, or in any other way benefit from said token piece... and, of course, he won the roll.

When my healer friend questioned him, asking why he would need on a piece of gear he cannot use when it was clearly an upgrade for someone else in the party, HIS friend and guildmate replied that, "The tank was upset because no gear had dropped for him during the run, so he needed that in order to get SOMETHING."

First and foremost, I think we can all agree that this was beyond words in terms of rudeness and just flat out unnecessary behaviour.

Secondly, I GENUINELY hope that in the future, Bioware adds a system that makes such pieces that are CLASS specific able to ONLY be needed upon by members OF said CLASS. Granted, this won't solve completely the issue of 'ninja looting', but at least such a system would aid in cutting down on said behaviour.

That being said, I certainly hope this person develops a better attitude toward group looting in the future. I've gone many times where I've run multiple, (four to nine), random Flashpoints without even once seeing a piece of gear that might benefit my character. It. Happens. Sometimes your luck just isn't there. When that happens, deal with it, but don't jack other people out of gear because you're mad at the random loot generator.

If you don't like the system, form your own group and set a different loot system. If you can't be troubled to do that, you have to deal with random idiots and the need/greed loot system.

You chose the latter. You don't get to complain about the choice you made.
I'm not arrogant. I'm just aware of my greatness.

Not false, I just simply think that anyone would be rude enough to need a Knight token from a Knight in order to strip out STRENGTH mods and place them in Light gear. (I'd LOVE to hear an explanation on how THAT would be in anyway useful to the SHADOW). Strength + Shadow = win?

As a random addition - I think it's fantastic how many people think I'm 'whining' because I post a simple explanation of something that is, in my opinion, (and clearly in the opinion of many other players), an issue, and suggest that perhaps Bioware look into it.

I suppose that makes EVERYONE in the world a 'whiner'. Because I'm sure at some point we've all gone, "Wow, maybe X could be done another way." If you've ever done that, about anything, ever, you're CLEARLY a whiner.

/pumps fist in the air "Whiners of the world unite!"

Seriously people... calmly expressing an issue and offering a suggestion of possible ways to better the issue, is not whining.

Here's an example of whining. EXAMPLE - "WAAAAAAAAAAAH SOME JERKWAD STOLE MY LOOT, QQQQQQ, WAAAAH!"

There, don't you feel better now? Clearly this was not what my OP consisted of.

/salute
Cheers to all the Trolls out there, I'll give you a special snack for this. :P You've amused and made my day.

This may sound cynical (probably because it is), but I suspect part of the reason is that designers want to, um, "encourage" people to rerun the same dungeons more often. It taps into a gambler's instinct. You see a tasty piece of loot drop, so you know it's winnable - but some else wins it instead. You may rant and rail about the unfairness of it all, but there's a good chance you'll rerun specifically to get that loot (or something equally good).

If I were a casino owner (or an MMO dev), I'd want to give high perception that "wins" happen while lowering the chance that people win what they actually want. Letting people win stuff that they can't actually use helps with the latter.
