Good word, though.

Yeah I personally enjoy Gamebreaker, and will listen to them as background noise when playing...but I do feel that they're going through some pretty annoying growing pains. Though on this show, I actually half agree with Everett (pretty rare occurrence tbh >.>)

One of the tenants of fandom....making any objective criticism = you hate them and are being unfair/negative. You can't like something, and be critical. You must be binary in your opinion, no nuance allowed . You see it all the time in Politics and sports also =/.

Just because some scrub on some nobody blog or game webpage writes about it, doesn't make it a new topic. Old news is old.
Looking for a good woman. Able to clean, cook, sew, catch bait, and clean fish. Must have boat and motor.
((Please send picture of boat and motor))

The game is on a nasty downward spiral since launch. That is a fact. People at Gamebreaker discussing this is not being "negative".
You argue one extreme attitude, then proceed with the other attitude.

First, that is not a complete truism and negates all that has been done in a positive way to enhance the game, all the fixes, this event right here.

Second, Its a game. That is all it is. It has issue just as any MMORPG has ever had (someone posted a plethora of data from Wow at six months, it could have been cut and pasted from this board). They are fixing them as they can. Whining endlessly to the point where one walks around with a dark cloud over their head, creates and attitude that makes it impossible for them to enjoy the game is not only silly, its unhealthy.

I've done alot of testing regarding tradeskills. I've posted my results. I do not wax on endlessly my negativity, but present the issue and move on. I'm still having fun. I still enjoy the game as just a game. That is not going to change because of a bunch of hyperbole and conjecture posted on random internet site "A".

The funny thing is folks around here find it much easier to launch ad hominems at the Gamebreaker hosts instead of countering the very salient negative aspects that they bring up on their show. You know why? Because they points they bring up are true and that grinds the gears of the sunshine pumpers.
You support their right to launch those ad-hominems at the game and its developers (which is all they are doing), but call out those that reply in kind. Are you also not doing the same by calling people "sunshine pumpers?". That is the problem with endless negativity. It gets us nowhere and nothing, just more negativity.

Really now. ;p

When they start launching ad-hominems, I'll be the first to call them out. One of the two panelists is just critical of the policy...though you could argue he's being slightly hyperbolic.

I'm sure the guy who theoretically might make money running Darthhater.com and the guy running a site with a weekly show on SWTOR would much rather be talking about how insanely popular the game is. An "ad hominem" is just an insult that has nothing to do with the discussion at hand (e.g. "you're wrong because you're ugly, or whatever") - they were expressing disappointment with specific issues in the game and decisions the developers have made.

And while it might be nice to just dismiss these people as "haters" or whatever, they were rooting for the game for months and months and were still pretty "sunshine pumpers" until right about the time the mass layoffs fell down. They even put a positive spin on the -400,000 subs number at the time, which most other news outlets didn't/wouldn't.

Actually justin lowe runs darth hater, has a podcast and gets its cash from curse and advertising, Gamebreaker gets its cash from adverts and the you cant miss netflix thats mentioned every other chance. And as murdoch states perfectly, the most popular news is bad news but does a fansite really only have to run on that cos darth hater doesnt have to and neither does gamebreaker when it comes to wow.

I disagree. There are people that live to complain and spread nauseating despair. Look at this event. Running smooth as silk but we still have post after post spewing negativity. This post is a prime example.

Sorry folks, I'm starting to sound negative myself (it tends to spread), but I don't suffer fools well. I suffer arm chair experts even less.

You do understand its in his best interest for the game to do well to keep up traffic to Darth Hater thus creating a solid revenue stream driven by site hits. right?

That doesnt cut it, on his site and podcast he aint as negative when it comes to the republic. He would get traffic even if he were as negative as he is on gamebreaker. His biggest asset is the database also. Fact is darth hater does the glas half empty glass half full where gamebreaker believes someones actually stolen and smashed the glass.

Cool. More ad hominems!

Not once have any of you attempted to engage in discourse about the topics broached by gamebreaker.

Its just "oh my, they're so negative" followed by an ad hominem that attempts to lessen the legitimacy of their opinion.

Predictable.
