However... I do not understand the logic (other than "every other idiot MMO does it so we have to too") of making us pay to train the skills our character is SUPPOSED to have at a given level. I mean... talents don't cost money, so why do skills? Many talents are arguably BETTER than skills, and they certainly make many skills better... yet they are free, one per level.

So why does going from "blaster fire rank 2" to "blaster fire rank 3" -- which is the rank I am supposed to have at level X, cost credits? It's about as logical as charging you to take a quest. It's like they're making you pay credits to play the game properly.

I know, I know... WOW does it, LOTRO does it, etc, etc, etc... But it still makes no sense to me. It's just a money sink.

And why do they need a money sink? If they think we are earning too much money, why not just lower the rewards and make the training free? It's almost like they built the game, then said "Whoops people are too rich!" and to solve it, instead of revising the loot tables, they just made training skills really expensive.

So... I don't see the logic in this. Again, I'm not complaining about being poor -- so far I have been able to afford stuff (though barely, in some cases). I just don't see why we should pay for things our character is supposed to have as part of its normal existence.
It dosent make sence that u get 5-6 paid jobs everytime u get to a small village either so whats your point? Its like they want u to make credits so u can get the skills.

Wana make everything logical, if so we get one booring game

I don't get this argument. The only thing I can think of if you don't have enough money to buy your skills from the trainer is you are just spending a crap ton of credits of things you don't really need.

I had zero issues affording things from my trainer by just playing the game (questing). I was able to buy every skill as soon as I gained a new level or soon after (purchased the lvl 40 speeder training half way through 40), think I only did maybe 3 warzones and 4 or 5 space battles before hitting 50 as well.

Are the abilities from the trainer expensive? Sure. But with the way the game throws credits at you, you really should have no issue affording them.

Training costs are a thorn in the side, but they are the most necessary items. Second comes your gear.

It's just like in RL, where you have to budget yourself to get your car/house/gun/etc.

Crew skills are a 50/50 thing. You can decide whether you want to spend your money on training on them and paying to do resource missions.

Buying items and attire are the same thing. Do you REALLY need that at-your-level item that gives you +1 willpower, when you already have an item in that slot that is just one level below you?

I am 43 and I still need my level 40 speeder. I simply saw too many things that caught my eye, like tricking out my ship with the best gear for missions and buying the dancer wear from the security key vendors.

I know how you feel about not having the credits, and I know where I went wrong.

It's not the game that screws you monetarily. Trust me on this.

Explain how, a brand new player is supposed to know not to buy every skill? Lemme guess, you played Beta?

Then again, your saying there are alot of unecessary Skills ingame?

Skills in real life don't cost money, you just find someone to observe, try it for yourself a few times and learn it. It costs money to prove you have the skills(education), skills themselves come from experience. The speeder training is fine where it is at, a speeder is a luxury not a necessity. You shouldn't have to do much more that the class quest line to afford the class skills. They can't up the rewards from the class quests to fulfill the training needs because some will waste it so they are left with discounting the training costs. Don't come in here with the argument that you need to PvP, do space missions, grind out every mission and mob so we can have a stash of credits, you do those things to afford luxuries. The basic tools of survival should be directly proportional to the average rewards you receive from the bare bones quest line. when you make it where you have to participate in aspects of the game you don't enjoy just to make it by, it's called a grind and if I want to waste time not enjoying myself after a hard day's work I don't need SWTOR to do so. I enjoy this game to no end. I will probably play regardless because I learned in 3 months of beta how to play and make money but I speak on behalf of the masses, it doesn't need to cost an arm and a leg to afford the basic necessities. Also, if you are here claiming that you have plenty of cash try going out and casually doing quests. you will afford the class skills up until about thirty then you'll start having to make sacrifices in areas you shouldn't be made to sacrifice.

I would agree with you, but you're simply wrong. The amount of credits you get from questing alone is insane. Also, you really don't need to purchase every skill upgrade since you really shouldn't be using them all, just a select few. The only time where money may become an issue is at level 40/50 when you have to purchase the piloting skill.

I make a ton of creds off crew skills, so if you know what your doing in the auction house it's easy to make that money. Crew skills can pay the bills. i only have about 12k in creds now lvl 18, but I always keep about 10-20 medpacs in stock, and do crew skills missions nightly for about an hour.

Training costs are way too much. It's a massive credit sink and it's way way way harsh at this early stage of the game.

Come back lvl 40 +, I have to grind every time to affort each level training (and that is not included crafting)

The exp I get from quests is in my opinion too much.. They should nerf the exp. I pretty muched dinged barely 38 near 40 from 3 pvp quests and few spacemissions.
"Why you stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf-herder!"
