EA stock has lost half its value over the past two years because of the #1 overall softness of the market and #2 by losing ground in console sales. If you ask any major investor in the stock market they will tell you they do not buy and sell on whims. They also do not care about SWTOR its not even in the top 5 as far as profitability over at EA.

So to sum up SWTOR has absolutely nothing to do with EA stock tanking. It has been down since before SWTOR even came out.
Trends since November disagree with you. SWTOR has had an impact on the share value whether you care to believe it or not.

The stock market trended down. The entire thing. So now star wars is causing all stocks to tank? Do you even listen to yourself? The stock was on a downward trend long before SWTOR even came out. Just recently they announced these numbers and layoffs which have no even had time to affect the cost. Man PLEASE do us a favor and take an economics class.

That tells me two things.

LA isn't happy with TORchan or how its being handled and they aren't happy with the bugs.

But you have no idea if the people they laid off are actually getting replaced though. If EA lays off 500 Bioware people only to turn around and Hire 1000 engineers that aren't going to work on SWTOR ,then the end result is the same - SWTOR lost people.

Actually if you look at the job posting it's pretty clear that they are.

Weren't they posted back in April though, like early April? Pre-conference call?

Right the writing was on the wall then I think Stephen and the rest new there positions were going to be ending then and couldn't talk about it until now....I also think in a few days we will see those postings go down because the positions have been filled.

I'm most sure that even though they were looking externally the CSM position was filled internally...call it a hunch.

Ah. So you are of the opinion that internally, **** hit the fan in April, people were told they would be getting their walking papers once the conference call came out and that they posted the jobs then?

Interesting theory. Makes some sense, too. Especially if it came from LA. Bioware probably gave their people a chance to move on before they got laid off.

I still don't see the benefit of firing people when you have so many things that need immediate fixing though. It's my understanding that it takes new developers/programmers/engineers time to learn the code and all that jazz. To me, it would have made more sense to either wait till rated WZ's and server transfers were in to gut people, or hire people to work along side the people you plan on replacing. Get them up to speed, then let go of the people who you originally felt you needed to replace.

Where is the deve track does it say no Developers were laid off?

I see a line like the following "We still have a very substantial development team working on supporting and growing the game, and we feel we are in a strong position" which means we did fire people but we want you to know there is still enough to maintain the game.

The QA jobs CRM and project manager jobs were all listed within the last couple of weeks according to the website. Seems like they want QA people just not the ones they laid off. Makes me think they were not performing and they decided to try some new blood. Seriously the patches lately have been pretty buggy I dont blame them.
