People are going to be silly juvenile and annoying no matter what. If all it is is a stupid name and in all other respects they act decent I dont care. I guess I am more laid back or something but after ten plus years of EQ and playing most of the other MMO releases I have gotten used to seeing some dumb names and no longer care.

I saw a character in the game yesterday with the name "Sixt'ynine." Wonder what it says about the guy who thinks that's funny.

I agree. I never bother with reporting a name unless it is obvious report-bait (Racial slurs and the like). I'll happily oblige them in that case.

I'd fight that. Anemia is a sweet name. And is in no way offensive.

I fought to keep our guild name in rift. "show us your noobs" I presented my arguments calmly and In a respectful manner and won. They let us keep it.

So I recommend you debate this with them and win back your name. No reason you shouldn't be allowed to use that name.

Fight the good fight ANEMIA!!!

You were forced to change Anemia but as of right now "Darthpinhead" is still running around on my server, just passed level 30? It's like they don't even look what the report is they just auto judge without any research.

First of all, bioware doesn't login and check names and ban them. You got reported by another player.

Second of all, take a look at the naming policy next time. If people would just pick names instead of random nouns/adjectives/phrases that they think makes them look cool, then there wouldn't be a problem.

edit:

forgot verbs/adverbs/and pronouns.

It's been said before by Bioware that they are going to strictly enforce the naming policy.

You Can't name a character after an affliction; ( I.E. Anemia. Aids, Cancer etc)

Folks who say "But I just passed..... " They won't be around long the Bioware guys warned us no one believed them and now we are seeing what is what. Also folks need to be careful if they Change more than one name on you they start taking action on your account because you are causing them extra work.

Moral of the story follow the naming policy or get your named changed and have other bad things happen.

Not True Rockjaw has said several times that GM's are in game watching as they are responding to issues and there are a crap ton of GM's so they could have got reported...or the Ran past a GM.

I guess the Devs have a little free time. I haven't had a single complaint or in-game comment that I was offending anyone. I also play well with others and have been in a few groups. Not a single player gripe.
Harassment is a difficult issue to handle. Someone who might have the condition can feel they are being disrespected by the way you seemingly off handily marginalize them through the use of their conditions name as a name for a character. In the end, it does not matter how respectful you act, someone feels harassed.

Usually when people feel harassed, their first response is not to confront the harasser. The harasser is threatening to them. So the harassed will go to other support ways to help alleviate their pain.

While we can debate how the situation was treated, all in all, in this case though, the solution is simple. Someone was harassed, it is just a game, and you were asked to change the name. Be the bigger person, and change the name.

Pick your battles.

And I presume some sad individual felt the need to report you as the name was not automatically not available in name creation.
Pretty much this. The only reason your name was flagged as "offensive" was that some self-righteous little snot reported it.
