Target Tracking doesn't work for Unload

OK so at the risk of flogging a dead horse, my Unload damage still wasn't adding up so I went back to my logs to find more errors. What I found this time was that Target Tracking is supposed to add 30% crit damage to Unload, but doesn't (works for Heatseeker Missile).

 

Test:

Removed all gear and buffs except for two orange blasters stripped of mods. Fired Tracer Missile at an Operations Target Dummy until Barrage proced, and then fired Unload.

Barrage isn't required for this test, but I was testing Barrage at the time I recorded this log so it was up each time.

 

Results:

Unload hit from between 438 and 521 damage for the main hand, and crit between 659 and 771.

Off hand hits ranged from 59 to 105 and crit from 94 to 158.

 

Conclusion:

These crit ranges fit for 150% crit damage, but not 180% crit damage. Since I had no Surge, the Target Tracking skill isn't applying it's 30% crit damage buff to Unload.

Aha. I was waiting for someone to check this.

 

Commando's equivalent (deadly cannon) has the exact same bug (i tested it).

 

Something else to check: the ammo-back talent on crits is also (allegedly) not working with full-auto/unload. Mind checking that too?

Terminal Velocity / Cell Charger? I'll check, but it might be a few days before I have time.

Maybe this is the something that they "fixed" in 1.2.0c. Not realising that the extra damage beyond 25% was coming from another talent.

I think something else is going on here then that, because the talent is definetly working, at least for me.

 

I have no clear and direct evidence of this, unfortunately, only my hearsay of what I experiences yesterday respeccing back and forth between Pyrotech.

 

Went into a WZ as Pyro, unloaded on people, didn't like the DMG I saw from it, so I switched back, and was getting my 1,750k crits again with it like I used to.

 

So, it's most certainly working. Just about the ONLY thing that hasn't changed on my Merc since 1.2 has been my unload damage, and that's really it's only saving grace right now.

I have 1% Surge = > 1.51 + 0,3 = 1,81.......or 181%.

 

Test 3 = 315.25

=> 315,25 * 1,81 = 570.....Test 2 shows 476,3.

 

Target Tracking doesn't work for Unload.

HSM-Hit wit TT non-critical = 576.15

181%..... => 576.15 * 1.81= 1042.8 ......... Test 5 shows 1038.8 -> okay!

 

 

Target Tracking works fine for HSM

For HSM

 

Sadly your test 4 does not show average non crit hits. So your math is likely flawed. If i use your average hits from test 5 it should look like this.

 

Test 4

 

576 average hit

576*1.51=870 crit no TT

 

Test 5

 

576 average hit

576*1.81=1043 crit with TT

 

You show average crit no TT as 911 on test 4 when it should have been 870. So you either used different gear or you're doing to much non crit damage on test 4.

 

I fully tested this and TT was doing exactly 30% for HSM.

 

 

There are currently 2 problems that i've tested and confirmed.

 

TT does not work for Unload at all.

 

Terminal Velocity does not work for Unload at all.

 

Let me add that i tested the Commando version of this and not the merc version. So i encourage you to verify the results for mercs.

thx, i've already corrected my post.

my mistake was the comparison of hsm crit tt - hsm crit no tt

as i said above, tt works finde for hsm.

 

@ testing hsm with no tt

=> 893.54 / 1.51 = 591.7 ...... 581 <-> 591 ..it's okay... rnd about 151% with no TT

 

 

After pulling 20 critical Unloads i can confirm that Terminal Velocity works fine.

But i'll run some more tests...

Could someone test Target Tracking on the Test Server and see if it works yet?

 

Well I did it now that 1.3 is released, and Target Tracking still doesn't work with Unload, so that's disappointing.

Such f*cking amateur hour. How many patches can BW go through without fixing this?

 

Is there any way we can bring this to their attention or get some sort've response?

 

It wouldn't surprise me if Gabe, et all, think the mercenary is fine cause they're assuming this works when it doesn't.

Tested on my Commando and yes it's still broken. I've posted this many times and even on the PTS. Yet it just gets ignored. I also asked that they change the tooltip to remove any reference to Unload/Full Auto if they're never going to fix this talent. I'd rather they fixed it personally. It's a passive value attached to an ability, not a proc or anything. For crits it's just damage x value * (1+(crit muliplier+.30)). Simple math really. Yet it's been broken since beta. Tested on my merc for an hour on 50 Ops dummy on fleet.

 

Went up the tree as far as target tracking but didnt take it.

 

Result: Max Unload Crit 1479

 

Took target tracking points and tested.

 

Result: Max Unload 1496

 

That's not 30% and at 1% deviation it's what you'd expect over an hour of doing unload every 15 seconds.

 

Surely one of the Devs can get on an account and test this themselves. The responses i've seen from BW on this issue have all been double talk about DR relating to armor. Please just come out and say "We tested IRL not a spreadsheet or looked at code, we see what every merc in the game can see when doing a real test, its a bug and not working as intended, we will endeavour to fix it"
