So your stating for fact that a console like the xbox 720, Which is amd based, stated to be 2 times as powerful as the average pc today and internet capable even on its own couldnt run an mmorpg. That cloud interface and storage couldnt be used with an xbox 720 which is basically a very powerful mini atx and couldnt use cloud as an interface to swtor.

See, there is the rub, no such MMO properties exist..... only allegatations that they will sometime in the future. AND if they do, it will be on a totally new architecture of a gaming platform. Keep in mind, many grand plans in the tech arena never come to fruition, for many reaons (often techical).

So because they dont build them now they never will, also they have been built for console before, PSO on the dreamcast, Final Fantasy XI on the playstation 2 and EverQuest Online Adventures also for the playstation 2. If they do it for consoles which are basically small pcs the only thing they would have to alter is how you connect and what the consoles can handle.

Setting aside your condescending tone..... your idea is easy to understand......your statement that your idea is fact however lacks substance of any objective form.

The only facts being thrown are yours that one part of what i said is incorrect where it isnt. As you seem to latch onto what is done now on cloud and not what can be done.

Now, where Cloud technology will dominate for the game producers in the future is going to be on creating more head room for gaming in tablets and smart phones. IF you did your research on cloud computing from a strategic point of view, you would know that this is where the subscriber base of the future lies, and hence where the companies will go. NOT gaming consoles and PCs.

And nearly all titles on onlive arnt browser based games but big budget console and pcs games like duex ex, AC, ... hell why am i even trying to type them out, here go look for yourself http://www.onlive.co.uk/games/featur...one&genre=none

Full disclosure: I work for one of the companies that is developing and providing Cloud technology to large enterprise customers. And that is all the detail I will provide.
Disclosure : And i have chickens that lay golden eggs and spit silver, i dont beleive either of the disclosure we provided.

And i work on what ifs not why nots, its people like me that take tech and thinking forward where its people like you who hold tech back and are scared to think outside the box.

Yes.

Port it to Xbox. Give them a single server that only Xbox players can play on.

Keep them away from me.
On the Internet, you can be anything you want. It is strange so many people choose to be stupid.

Indeed. Free-to-play generally translates directly to pay-to-win, which costs a lot more than a darn subscription. Thanks, but no thanks.

Tell Me what you think?
two basic problems with what your asking

1: TOR barely runs on most modern systems, as someone has a 3-4 year old system it is quite taxing on my rig, which i built purely to game! its a system can run games like saints row 3 on high settings still, and other such games with very little problems YET struggles to play TOR at times with slow load times, and having to settle for medium settings. so with that in mind HOW in gods name do you expect a 7-8 year old system to handle TOR? PS3 has a MUCH better hardware system then the Xbox and it couldnt even handle FF14(i believe it was scrapped for consoles) how in gods name do you expect the 360 to even hope to handle TOR?

2: if mmo is not designed for a console your basically asking players to hook a mouse and keyboard up to there xbox360 because are not enough keybinds on a pad to handle it additionally have to warrent them spending large amounts of cash to make own ps3/xbox360 servers(cause mind you no way this would be an exclusive... EA and bioware are both cross platform now). Not enough money it ... just isn't ... plus asking CONSOLE players to pay a monthly fee which... most just arent going to do...

Sorry but just not going to happen alot of reasons but biggest just technical issues...

no it doesnt...no it doesnt...no it doesn't try playing games like DCUO, or DDO please... there is NO gear you buy in those games and ones in DDO you get by end of first zone anyway... no sorry is no pay to win in these games...that concept was left at the wayside! What you buy is content... races... or in some cases classes. Sometimes these are even unlockable in game but, can just buy them to giving you options...

It annoys crap out of me when people say this because that hasn't been true of F2P games for awhile HELL even DFO(dungeon fighter online) just got rid of its stats on avatar items... sure are some pay to win games out there BUT are plenty are not... and if you consider content power...then your perception is flawed... because they still have to earn that gear by doing said content.

Nobody would play it and it would never get past Microsoft's strict policy. That's why DUST514 is on PS3.

PS3, yes, it could work. It has that open-mindedness. It has Keybo & mouse support. Only thing is that icons would totally be weird on a TV. Just doesn't translate well. Hence, is why we are getting DUST514(a shooter) on the PS3 instead of EVE Online on the PS3. PS3 already has huge load times with games already and SWTOR already has atrocious load times for planets.

That policy is what I was talking about apparently the cost of patches are 40,000 dollars , but people would play it. I see no need for a mouse on a console version , well actually I dont use a mouse at all on swtor since I started in December.

GW2 is been made for a console , so yeah why not swtor. I wonder what console though. Possibly the xbox 720 as someone suggested and I feel it wouldn't be cross platform just a unique console version.

Cheers,

Badorb.

Do you know what? I completely agree. In a way, the PC is the wrong platform for the game - it feels like a console game somehow. Don't ask me why or how - it just does! Anyone more erudite than myself on this matter care to elaborate?

To any who are arguing that an MMO is incapable of working on a console from a hardware/software standpoint. You are inexorably wrong. Fact is Final Fantasy XI is on PS2, PC, and Xbox 360. The game is still around and still a sub model. Oh and the players on all 3 platforms all play on the SAME SERVERS. DCU is also on PS3 and PC for what It's worth.

The current issue with MMO's on the Xbox is the ungodly strict policies MS has on XBL now, Square-Enix got FFXI on the console before these policies were created IIRC. It pretty much makes it near impossible for an MMO to work on the platform.

There is a reason about half a dozen MMO's that originally were announced for PC and Xbox dropped development for Xbox over the years.

One issue with consoles I consent to is consoles cannot be upgraded or (legally) modified. They are what they are. Down the road you start to run into limitations on how much you can actually put into the game.
