Do you mean the GW2 boards? Yes, it's a perfect example of people going in with unrealistic expectations, and then the results when reality smacks them across the face. Once again, same old thing, different MMO.

Is it too hard to go in with realistic expectations? My dad always taught: "hope for best, expect the worst". I'm hardly ever blind-sided like it seems many here are...

Same here along with "do what you wish in life but be prepared to accept the consequences".

Has worked very well for me. SWTOR caught me totally by surprise, I had no interest in it and got dragged over here. No expectations at all and here I am 4 months later having a ton of fun.

Oh...as for the OP, heavens no. I'm not a fan of cutting off my own nose to spite my face.

EVERYONE should've seen that coming, you're correct. I think the problem, though, is BioWare's reputation coupled with a VERY beloved IP, led to unrealistic expectations. Perhaps augmented by press/hype from BW themselves (I'm looking at you, Mr. Ohlen). As far as GW2, it's because GW, for what it was, was freaking awesome. THERE was a game with balanced PVP. There was a counter for everything. People have VERY high hopes that the sequel will merge what GW did right with what certain other MMO's do right.

Yes, GW2. Sorry for the confusion.

But, on a side note. You need to stop now Jeramie. This is no place to be injecting logic, reason, and rational discussion. If you continue, I will report you. ;p

Dad was a wise man btw.
May the Schwartz be with you....

I love how "voice acting" is all that's left to defend this game. SWTOR is just pre-WotLK WoW, yet people are gullible enough to spend 2012 dollars for it, even after Lucas trashed the SW ip in 1999. SW lore lol. "Sci-fi > fantasy" lol. SW is fantasy, learn the difference.

The only thing this game proved is that smooth, responsive gameplay trumps voice acting / legacy / story everytime. But I guess it is nice to have a class story to recollect while you wait for the ability delay to finish.

Raise your standards people.

Uninstalled it today, obviously.

I'm getting REALLY close. TSW is so very appealing, but I fear history will repeat itself. GW2 holds no interest for me despite how much I enjoyed the original GW.

I think the only thing keeping FROM cancelling is the lack of a suitable alternative.

I agree with you 100%. The QQ about the collectors edition store is exactly the same thing. People decide to have these unrealistic expectations and hype themselves up then blame everyone else because of it. What is amazing is the amount of people doing this over and over again. I am sure Einstein had something to say about doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different reults somewhere.

Voice acting is NOT all that is left to "defend" this game. Now, had you said: In my opinion etc. that would be fine but guess what? I enjoy the game. As mystifying as that is to YOU, I'm the one who pays to play and I only pay to play so long as I'm having fun. I enjoy questing, the various classes and stories. I enjoy my guild and activities. I enjoy making stuff.

So, my standards are just fine, for me. And, no offense, I don't care about yours. If yours are such that you don't like the game, you did the right thing. G'luck wherever you land and I hope you find what you seek.

MMORPG hoppers will hop to the next game anyway, I just wish they would some day learn to do so without these: giveme something or I will quit - posts. When they make this kind of posts it is clear to most experienced readers that they will quit anyway, atleast for a while.

Real reason is that they are kind of burned out. There is always something wrong with whatever game they are playing at the moment. And there is always something better waiting in the next game. Yet every new game fails to deliver if you compare it to all the expectations and all the hype and whatever they specifically want to find. They have tried everything, they have seen everything, still they cannot figure out that they would be happiest if they quit playing online altogether for a year (for example) so that when they come back they could enjoy the game itself.
