Jeelvic the Jawa merchant for Rakghould World Event....

I agree that MMO players should be responsible for understanding how MMOs work, and that they should be responsible for at least following up on news items posted in the game launcher.

On the other hand, this game has a lot of first-time MMO players. Furthermore, for those who have played MMOs before, it's common in other MMOs for the event vendors to survive the event by up to a week so that players can turn in their event tokens. So the expectation that the event vendor would survive the event for a few days is not entirely unreasonable.

I would be against players being able to earn any more DNA Samples, because the event is over, but I would support bringing the vendor back for a few days so that players can turn in DNA Samples they earned before the event ended.

ohhh ho ho ho. way to project your age onto me, young master! you are making the assumption that it requires one to be active while standing in the middle of a cloud of space aids. i bet you grinded up a lot of time on tatooine doing the dailies, so i can understand why you are so mad.

here's to hoping the vendor never returns.

though i suppose in all fairness, bioware should have had an "end day" event for the event. this would simply be a reduction in rakghoul presence on tatooine, along with a change in the news announcements to indicate a waning of the threat.

it would be a nice RP way to let people know what is going on, though i'm sure the bads will want an message with an explicit date and time sent to them personally. can't please them all.

I logged in today expecting to finally play this new event that i haven't had time for, and it was gone.
It really doesn't matter whose FAULT it is that i didn't know about this, here are the facts: I didn't know about this and now I've missed out. I feel alienated, and I question the value of continuing my subscription.

I know I am just one guy and my sub doesn't mean much, but I don't think I am the only person who feels a bit burned by this.
All you had to do was go to the Fleet..see all the groups standing around, exploding and puking thier guts out and hear the PA system warning players not to go to Tatoonie. With no mention to get the heck out of the Fleet now!!

Back to page 1's point, it helps to read the entire message.

Hi everyone, we just wanted to remind people to turn in your Rakghoul DNA before maintenance tomorrow morning at 2AM CDT (12AM PDT/3AM EDT/8AM BST/9AM CEST/5PM AEST). Jeelvic the Jawa will be disappearing after tonight, but he may possibly return by himself at some point in the future.

I have a few leftover, but not enough to buy anything significant. I may try to farm the infection a couple more times just to get enough for another companion appearance kit, or I might just sell them.

As for your common sense rambling, no, it's not common sense that the Vendor disappears. As has been posted NUMEROUS times, it's a common practice for MMOs to leave the event vendor around for a couple of days so people can still use what was earned. To be clear, what is being requested is not the ability to earn more of the event currency, but to be able to spend what has already been earned.

There are no good reasons to stick people with the leftover samples -- even if the event will be back in the future.

It is completely understandable that someone would have missed the fact that the event is ending, or even that it was an "event" and not a permanent change to the game. Keep in mind that for many people this is their first MMO, and an even larger amount of people don't read the forums.

The argument of "you should have known" is simply not valid. There were very few in-game announcement, and nothing that anyone would have seen if they were away from the weekend.

Remember that many college students have exams this week, and some people are even on Spring Break. You also have adults such as myself that may have been gone for the entirety of the weekend.

I spent all my samples because I read the forums and knew the event was ending, but I can certainly understand the viewpoint of people who didn't. Absolutely nothing is lost by putting the Jawa back into the game, or by putting a vendor on the Fleets who will accept the samples.

This is terrible PR, BW. Just bring the vendor back, or risk this becoming a complaint outside the forums from disguntled (justifiably so) players.

Potential Player: "Should I play SWToR?"

Has Played: "It's a fun game, but there was this event where if you happened to have not been around for 3 days, you wasted a weeks worth of play."

Potential Player: "They didn't keep the vendor around??"

Has Played: "Naw, there were lots of complaints on the forums, but in the end BW sided with the players that wanted to sell the items for more money, and let the non every day playing people hold the bag. Was pretty stupid. If you play, just don't do the events cause you might get screwed if you don't play every day."

Potential Player: "Was on the fence, but screw that."

Just sayin'.

No point to not letting people spend their earned DNAs. Only negative.

I think the real reason people want the Jawa back is it will raise the price of DNA samples.
I mean think about it, a vendor that only accepts tokens that you are no longer able to acquire?
It's basic supply and demand. The price of tokens hoarded will go through the roof.
THIS is the real reason people didn't turn them in , in a timely manner. They were PLANNING on the Jawa staying and the price going through the roof, and now they have nothing. No items, no money.
