As far as the rated having to be postponed, I say good on BioWare for postponing it! Most developers would have released a broken product just because they told the community they were shooting for it. Rated WZ's are still coming, bud, just let them polish it. I'd much prefer a polished system over a broken one any day of the week.
Have you ever played WAR? What were people asking for in that respect? Because from the moment I got to Ilum I thought it was terrible (ignoring the perfomance issues). I can't imagine anyone asking for Ilum's RvR basin.

What I can't understand with Ilum is the fundemental flaws in it, compared to even the worst WAR RvR basin. Even LOTRO has a better RvR basin.
Real Star Wars space combat please, not Star Wars Fox! Maybe some PvP and flight too?

Guess who died over 10x from being zerged by a wave of enemies?

I'll give you a hint - it wasn't the Imps.

I never went back after that, simply because there's no way to complete the event. When there's 4x the amount of enemies than allies, it gets super, super discouraging.
I'm on The Ebon Hawk. I just spammed Tatooine General and the LFG channel.

Most of us wanted a PvP area to fight in without mobs in Rift, as for Warhammer Online, I personally had hoped Illum had keeps like WAR but it turned out it didn't.

That honestly wasn't a problem in illum though, not having keeps didn't make me had Illum..

Performance issues is pretty much 100% why Illum failed, If the game performed decently in zerg fights, Illum would of been extremely popular even if it was just a kill fest..

I keep seeing this, yet I never once had performance issues. The worst I saw was about 24fps. Intel Core2 Duo E8400@3GHz, 8GB RAM, GTS 250 vid.

*shrugs* I don't know what I'm doing right, but I guess I'll keep doing it...

Even if Ilum's performance had rivalled 1.4 WARs (400 vs 400 a possiblity), it would still have been the worst RvR zone I've ever seen in an MMORPG. The geography is seriously flawed, and the concept.... well it's so lacking in concept for a start.

Guys - Bioware are doing a fantastic job.

I dont come on the forums often, but as I am once again patching and my ISP is deciding to go into slow mode, I thought I would have a quick look. For my 2 cents, I personally love the game but cannot help but think there was a grammatical error at the first LucasArt / Bioware meeting. At some point the title of The old republic has been read over some voice recognition software or something, and Bioware have misinterpreted the SWTOR title as 'Star Wars : The Old Re-patch-it.

To this end Bioware have done a fantastic job, as they are continuously repatching to solve glitches and coding problems, whilst simultaneously introducing more problems than there previously were with each patch. So really they are excelling in their production role. I just wish that someone could have pulled them up on this clerical error prior to the initial release date, as I would have prefered playing a stable version of this game on a windows 3.1 calculator, than a rushed out glitchy version that doesnt really work properly, and taints my view of my favourite franchise.

PvPers in beta said they didn't want another WAR. Some of them said they didn't want another WoW. Some of them said they didn't want another DAoC. Some of them said they didn't want another <insert MMO here>.

Basically, there wasn't a type of PvP left after all the PvPers listed what they didn't want. Kinda hard to work with that, don't you think?

The latest poll by James Ohlen was a shining example of this. The poll showed the majority wanting PvPvE-type of open world PvP. The majority of the posts, however, rallied against PvPvE.

I don't envy BioWare's position in this fiasco one iota...

Yup, I guess they got exactly what they wanted then, a disaster.

But really after running WAR for so long (and having Mythic staff to boot) someone internal to Bioware should have had some idea. It's boggling they didn't.

Highlighted by me for emphasis.

I have to agree with you, I'm not sure how you get meaningful pvp out of a place like Ilum, perhaps you just can't. I think it is hard to achieve anything like that with a 2 factional system as having it both be meaningful and balanced with 2 factions where 1 will always have a slight to large advantage over the other is a tall order.

Pretty sure they wanted it to be more successful than WAR... So they opened up too much to the community, who blurred it so bad, we got what we got.

This is one time where BioWare should have actually realized that what the community wanted was not in their own best interest, ignore them, and just do what they do best.
