The game's skillcap is already low, we don't need an auto-attack.
Adlez - Operative
Notorioùs - Sith Marauder (50) (not used)
Adlezz - Jedi Sage (50) (not used)
Notorius - Jedi Guardian (50) (not used)

Auto-attack is bad.

Things I don't like about auto-attack:

On my hunter it would break traps or CC forcing. This could happen while tabbing through enemies, or after CCing a mob/player myself. In early releases of WoW, the pet (another form of auto-attack) would often bite a CC'ed mob, making it worthless unless I put him into passive mode prior.

On a melee character it would fill in some extra damage while in range, but if you were a caster you had no auto-attack so missed that opportunity.

On a warrior you needed to either be really good at timing or use a swing timer to avoid clipping your auto-attack with some yellow attack - thus lowering your damage significantly.

It messes with the animation system. If you're not attacking then it will display, but not if you are. If you fire a yellow attack during the auto-attack then it won't look quite right.

The only good point I can think of is when I get DCed and my char is playing for the 20 secs it will take the server to log me out. If this happens in combat (as it always does) I have a fighting chance of living due to the small amount of damage from 20 secs of auto-attack.

Auto-attack is horrible, I love the way it is now.

While i like the philosophy of moving away from auto attack in mmos i'm not sure i feel the way it's handled here adds anything special to the combat

I find that i'm only using the standard attack when i'm trying to regen energy/force/what ever and going between LOTRO and TOR i don't think it's a noticeable difference except at early levels when your character lack skills

It actually makes no difference. Just like when you fight 4 guys in this game and it takes the same time as 1 in another game. It is all just balanced differently.

I got used to not having auto-attack. I whined about it at first, now I don't miss it. All part of the learning curve.

Tab targeting is horrible.

Who cares about Auto attack when everyone is Auto aiming?
Alive Heros: Confident Hero - Stout Hero - Jedi Covenant
Dead Heros: Octane Torque - Burn Torque - Enslave Minds - Tortured Minds - East Coast PVP server merge fatalities

God awful idea. Sorry i have to disagree with a lot of the posts i see on here, I love auto attack, and i hate having to constantly click for a basic generally no dmg attack just to build up rage or finish off a weak enemy.

I disable it. It's horrible.

Why? Because you could easily and accidentally target the next group of mobs or PvP player by pressing a quickslot key right when your current target dies. Also, I don't like accidentally flagging for PvP by targeting a PvP-flagged character when I'm PvEing. When PvPing, you don't want that stun wasted on the next character when it was intended for your current target to ensure their death.

But more importantly, I prefer control to choose which target to fight at any given time. I do the same with my companion and get him or her to attack what I choose. For that matter, I can't stand the delay they have in following your commands. It seems like your companions are permanently stuck on stupid.
