Who said that sith will only be red and jedi will only be blue? There are already many colors to choose from. You are only being restricted ONE color out of many.

Was not my indication, I was commenting on what people were whining about having too many colors to pick from. I have pretty much each color I switch out when the other bores me. I lean towards the more vivid colors like green/red/ purple and orange, not so much on the too bright yellow, or the blue/white/etc

Greetings everyone!

We wanted to give you a few posts of information on changes to color crystals in Game Update 1.2 (please note that patch notes on the Public Test Server are subject to change). These posts were made by Georg Zoeller, Lead Combat Designer. You can view these posts and more in our Developer Tracker and Community Blog!

The Tirsa Prime is being sold to the exclusive audience of the VIP lounge in the future, at a severely increased price. The other vendor landspeeders are no longer for sale.

The top-end PvP speeders had their requirements not removed in 1.1.5, that was intentional.

The preorder vendor will retain its crystals in 1.2, yes. We have also added a way to upgrade the Razer crystal for 1.2.

The current crystal vendor on the fleet (white crystals, etc.) will be removed with 1.2. The crystals on the vendor (with the exception of the white one) can now be acquired through other means (crafting, etc.)

It is our stated goal to decouple the choice of crystal color from the choice of stats in the game. To that end, with Game Update 1.2, you will find that there are endgame variations (+41) for all available crystal colors in the game (Reminder: white is no longer available in 1.2, it's available for a limited time at vendors only).

We have no intention of introducing a new tier of color crystals in the short or mid term future (e.g. 1.3, 1.4). I can't make any statements beyond that at this point, but this should give you planning certainty.

The same is true for augments - the current augments (Rating 22, Level 49) will be the top level augments for the forseeable future. It is a certainty that we will introduce a new tier of augments at some point in the future, but not for several months.

Hope this helps

Georg

Are the white crystals going to be 'gone', as in no longer attainable, once 1.2 goes live?

IE: If you don't buy one now, you will never get one ever again?

Thanks for any REAL responses with quoted sources!
Never is such a harsh word.

There will be no way to obtain white color crystals in Game Update 1.2 or any of the 1.2 series of patches. As for further into the future, it is fair to say that we have not yet made up our minds.

However, should a white color crystal be made available at a later time, you can be certain that the mode of acquiring it will be significantly more involved than going to a vendor. That's a one-time opportunity during patch 1.1.5 that will likely not return for a long, long time.

Thanks for the update. Personally I don't understand the fascination of the white crystal.

Conformist-loser attitude. You'd die quickly as a Sith... "Ooohhh, can't do that ! It's not allowed... eeewwww..." :P

The colours are symbols. If you're a jedi who turns to sith you obviously aren't going to pause mid scene, declare you've come to an emotional decision about where your loyalties lie, and then open up your sabre so that you can change the crystal so that for the transitional battle in your alignment shift from good to evil nobody is confused.

Your logic is the kind of facile nonsense that people use when they want to split hairs and ignore blatantly obvious facts. Good guys use Blue and Green, bad guys use Red. Thats how its always been and thats the symbolic divide. This kind of symbolism has always been important in Star Wars, which is basically a sci fi parable about good and evil.

People who want free form use of colours and themes for both sides should just say it, instead of claiming that everything which is actually consistent with the world of Star Wars is "Narrow Minded".
I understand the symbolism of the colors from the movies. However there is no splitting hairs. When applying the argument with the limitations of the game, those few moments int he movies, under the rules of the game, then they would not be able to wield the oppositions colored lightsaber for even a brief moment.

If anything is facile, it is that red = bad, blue/green = good. It is obviously ignoring anything from the Extended Universe. Especially when you support it with a fallacy like "That's how it's always been..." Obviously it is not how it has always been, especially if you can read about jedi that used non-traditional colors. Even the timeline videos show certain jedi falling to the darkside, yet still able to wield their original lightsabers instead of red. Go watch them, they're on this website.

I don't want free reign over colors, I want it how they presented the game with the Star Wars universe. But seriously, go watch the timeline videos and just see how these sith use non-red.

But that won't happen.

As it stands right now, the lightsaber wielding Force user player characters in this game look like a colorful circus act. None of the traditional colors for the Jedi and most especially the Sith. When you see a group of Sith, they pretty much should be using Red lightsabers.
I totally agree with you except purple is considered a darkside color along with the orange blade. Jedi could use any color saber they wanted to except the sith colors. Unless a Jedi went dark side and rarely did they show they went dark by using a red blade. So its kinda dumb that its going this way, but anything to get money from the game like haveing light sided sith race, really stupid.

LOL dont quote the time line vidoes there are many errors in them. Like they say Revan met the Emporer and was doing his bidding when he attacked the Republic, but in SWOTOR 2 Darth Treya said Revan never met the true sith, that he gained his Knowledge on his own and saw that the sith were going to attack in the future and was making the republic strong for that day. The time line made Revan the emporers pawn when in fact he was not.

You may call me a Jedi fanboy but Jedi aren't the bad guys. Sith are. Also sith are losers. My boy obi wan makes your siths look like a bunch of kids with "laser swords".
