Good God I couldn't figure out why everything looked so familiar. Was sitting here going 'where have I seen that name?' Duh, I've been following you on DA for ages!

Surprised to see you posting here, though I'm not sure why. But hi anyways, I creep on your art. c:

Haha! Hey guys! While trying to get to 50 and working at the same time takes time away from art... I DO have stuff for you guys to see.

First, a Luni sketch:

I decided. I'm going to cosplay this year for the 2012 Florida Super Con in Miami. Why? So I can not only embarrass the crap out of Vahmung for his first anime/comic/game convention, but also bring more revenue to my artist table. I noticed that by cosplaying there are more people coming to take photos of you (or with you if their cosplay is the same subject) or stop and compliment. They eventually see the art and go "OUUU! okay!". I had a 40% raise in what I made last year when I cosplayed as a Hogwarts student. Hopefully... it wasn't because my buttons in my shirt popped open or the Harly and Ivy drawing I had done.

Anyways... I've really grown to love my character design of Luni so I said "WHY NOT!?" and started doing research. I mocked up my costume design, deciding I would go with a Dark Jedi version of Luni. Having to deal with someone making my armor would be...too much.

Pretty simplistic design. Charcoal browns and blacks are really all it consists of.

Now, I am SO not good at sewing or anything like that. The last time I used a sewing machine I was in Junior High making a pillow with a Shih Tzu on it for my Grandmother (she totally still has it!). I decided "if I am going to cosplay, I do not want to look like one of those people who end up on those '*** are you thinking when you cosplay this?' sites and went with searching for a seamtress to commission and also sought after my hardcore cosplay friends to help me out.

I eventually found one lady I really want to settle with. Her passion is making Jedi attire and from the get-go she knew by referencing Anakin Skywalker's episode 3 attire that that look was what I was going for and she provided examples. Her work is pretty beautiful and professional and I can't help but to want to go with her. That will be... say a rounded $100 for her services for the outer robe, the faux leather sashes and the obi/faux leather belt.

Now we move on to the other pieces I myself will need to obtain...which is simple really.

Black longsleeved, turtleneck leotard:

Black leggings:

Black gloves:

Whatever boots I'd find really. This is probably the easiest.

To be dyed with a stripe of black of course!

Contact lenses:
A little hard to decide which route I want to go with. Corrupted sith eyes or her regular turqoise colored eyes that have a hint of yellow taint to them. This the hardest for me to deal with. I've never worn contacts before and hate anything in my eyes. The convention actually has a contact lense dealer that has the corruption so I could easily switch.

Now here's the hardest part... the lightsaber. I don't want to go off spending $100 on it but I still don't want to look like a total noob. If I want to be marauder, I could go cheap and buy the lightup ones that are plastic and retract (risking looking like ****) or I can be nice to myself, stay to my characters actual story and buy one from ultrasabers. I'd paint it to my standards (or buy a new piece of the top of the blade) of course and stuck with a $54 version and go with the sunrider's destiny blade color.

So.. yes! Here is my planning for my cosplay and I haven't even bought anything and I am kind of excited. Once I speak with the seamstress some more, we'll see when I can buy the robes and get to work. I have until June 29th! Any helpful ideas, etc would be welcome! Apparently, the seamstress starts work BEFORE you pay in case she dislikes how the outfit comes out. That is EPIC! Once I get her my measurements she will be starting the process it seems. Super excited!

If you have the time, you could always make the armor yourself. I don't know if you know about it but there's that moldable plastic that heats up when you use a heat gun. You could shape the outer armor over your curves and then stick or glue it into place on your body piece or tunic. Probably a waste of time, but just an idea.

You'll post pictures of the final result for us, won't you?
