Best ranged DPS Sniper or BH?

Wondering which has better ranged DPS, the BH or the sniper? I would think sniper since it's only specialty is damage, but I grouped with a BH and he was blowing everything up in the first Flashpoint like crazy(he was a 13 merc). However I have yet to group with(or really even see) a sniper. I am thinking more in terms of PvP, but PvE is important as well obviously. Thanks for any help .

Depends on what you need.

Want a roomsweeper? Call a BH.

Need a single target turned into a fine pink mist? Send in the Sniper.

Ah ok, not familiar with the classes so thanks for the tip. So far I have only played an assassin to level 12, but kinda bored with it already. Mostly I generally play ranged DPS in MMO's and the cover system intrigues me since it's different. Does the BH use a cover system like the Sniper does? Sounds like I will go sniper though, as I like to pound single targets down in PvP.

Bounty Hunters (and their mirror Troopers) do not use Cover.

BH and Troopers do not use the cover mechanic that is unique (afaik) to this game and specific to smugglers and Imperial Agents. This mechanic has nothing to do with armor...hence the separate term.
