Disagreement on the removal of alignment restrictions on color crystals

Agree with the OP, maybe not for entirely the same reasons. The color restrictions were based on lore but when enough people whined, then BW caved. The could have found a compromise by introducing some unrestricted red, blue and green crystals into the rewards and vendors or through some new artifice schematics. That way you'd have some unrestricted ones floating around the universe for those were were absolutely desperate for particular colors, but you wouldn't end up with 80% of the Jedi having red lightsabers or anything silly like that. Hopefully BW can be more resistant to watering down the game in the future by ignoring lore and the "Star Wars" part of the game just to satisfy some QQ'ing.

I get a feeling when I see a red sabre slide open. BioWare tapped into this iconic image when they made the trailers for the game. Lucas instilled this in his movies. Inividual players have emagined other ideas but I think the fact that the red sabre means dark is pretty well understood. Sadly this emotional response that is unique the Star Wars lore will be lost.

I entirely support this thread. Not even sure if majority wants the color restrictions removed but I think that is another "entitled to everything" issue.

Sith should be using red. Jedi blue. End of story.

Seeing how Bioware caters to whiners, completely ignoring lore and one of their own basic concepts, is disappointing.

IMO I think the colors should be faction locked. Blue and Green for Jedi and Red for Sith. I have a LS Sith but he's still a Sith, he should have a red colored saber. All the other colors should be available to both factions but the "lore colors" should be kept lorewise.
Even if you chose to be a dark jedi or a light sith, being unable to go rogue you must keep undercover.

I also support keeping the faction restrictions on color crystals - I feel it is an iconic difference from the movies and would water down the effect. I think there should be MORE separate colors than less. White core w/ other color outsides like the black ones.

But I am against the Crystal vendor - keep them as Artifice crafting skill items. The crystal vendor is going to kill end game crystal crafting.

People talk about color restrictions as if it were a faction issue. It's not. It's an alignment thing. I've seen plenty of Sith with blue or green crystals already. The only thing this does is give players less reason to go neutral. Being able to use any color crystal was pretty much the only perk to being neutral.

As for crystal vendors, those (like many speeder price drops) are temporary as a method to get money out of the economy before 1.2 hits with the various crafting changes.

"I don't need to remind you that a crimson blade doesn't guarantee that the wielder is a Sith, any more than every person strong in the Force is a Jedi. Asajj Ventress was a mere apprentice to Dooku, not a true Sith. A crimson blade can owe to nothing more than a synthetic power crystal. Then crimson is simply a color, like Master Windu's amethyst blade."

That was said by Roan Shryne.

I like hide corruption on my Operative. I wanted a blue Chiss and that is what I picked. By the time I was level 50 I was pale white and looked like Alice Cooper.

On my Sorcerer, sure, show all the corruption I can. Evil non force users shouldn't show corruption though, in my opinion.

Yeah because Exar Kun totally used a red lightsaber and Mara Jade totally used a blue one... no wait a minute... it's almost like you have no idea about any Star Wars lore outside of the prequels!!! So how about you go read some books and get back to us in about 6 months with a more evolved opinion.
