Willpower. STR will increase just your melee damage. Willpower will increase melee and force damage at the same time.

Interesting, so Willpower increases melee damage as well, for the Assassin?

Is it on the same scale as if applying Strength for melee?

Just curious if Strength should ever be considered, since Assassin does a lot of melee combat.

I asked Georg in a pm, because I was wondering if a stat cap to Willpower might mean that adding some Strength would be necessary in later levels. He told me that Willpower should always be used over Strength, though he didn't comment on any stat caps.

yes, for the inquisitor and it's subclasses.

For Warriors, it does not.

no, willpower is always better for inquisitors and it's subclasses.

----------

Each class has 1 main primary attribue. It effects everything of note (except health and companion performance). Health is determined by endurance. Presence improves companion performance.

Strength - Warriors/knights
Willpower - Inquisitors/consulars
Aim - BH/Trooper
Cunning - IA/Smugglers

It is ALWAYS the better choice to choose the primary stat listed above for each class.

Since all equipment has one main stat (will, str, cunning, or aim) and endurance, you must choose one.

For inquisitors, strength will still improve melee damage but, unlike willpower, it does not improve force damage. Therefore, willpower effects more things and where there is overlap they provide the same benefit. This reinforces that the primary is ALWAYS the best.

Why wouldnt a warrior just pick willpower if it still increases his strength the same amount? Yes Im a noob.

For a Warrior, Strength is the class stat. Therefore +Strength adds to EVERYTHING. Thus +melee damage and +force damage are covered by this stat. You technically could wear gear that gives +Willpower on a Warrior, but you wouldn't get a lot of benefit from it.

Always wear your class' "special" ability score score. For Sith Warriors, that's Strength. Or for Sith Inquisitors, that's Willpower.
