I have a Optiplex 990. I'm not sure what version... Should I be able to run SWTOR smoothly? I don't know what video card it has but I know my processor is above 2.0 GHz and has more than enough RAM.

I was able to download Skyrim without any lag or anything when I play. So are the requirements for this game lower or higher?

If my video card isn't high enough, how much is it to get one installed and how much are they?

You should be fine, generally mmo's are a little more cpu versus gpu intensive. You'll definitely be able to play, may need to tweak some settings though depending on your computer. Pro-tip, when you hit ctrl+shift+f to bring up the fps of the client, red font indicates its your cpu slowing down performance, green indicates its the gpu.

I have a very similar setup, Radeon 6850 with a phenom 955 oc'ed to 3.6~ GHZ and the game ran great in the beta on high settings, and I've heard the retail client is even better without a debugger running in the background using resources.

laptops like this, are not GAMING laptops and will not run like their suppost to.
their for watching movies, data processing, video editing and general user documentation, not high performance gaming.
and their overpriced.
