"What's" is the contraction of "What is", and it's correctly used in the post you're replying to.

It is in the same category as "can't", "won't", "doesn't", and other contractions. These are a part of standard English.

Not only are most of the morons not ashamed of it, they're actually *proud* of it, and view any effort to correct them as a personal insult instead of the gracious act of charity it is. (I mean, their teachers were paid to teach them Enlgish; I do it for free. I expect some gratitude for this, but what do I get? Poorly spelled, illiterate, and often incomprehensible insults. Sigh.)

lizard person you are my brethren.

Oh , how I agree with thee.

However , we do walk a fine line here.

You have to consider what is the meaning of these symbols we offer in effort to communicate.

language changes in accord with the behavior of those who use it.

There are many factors which act upon language.

Temporal
Technological...

Could sum it up as saying simply Cultural.

I agree with you , but consider our standpoint

We are the Vanguards of language as we know it.

However.

Language as we know it , is changing.

Today's slang, Tommorrow's Standard.

But Yes.

There are those that possess such limited control of language in any form that they are inept at acheiving its most basic aim.

To communicate.

Also consider.

Context and efficacy. If you believe you have a firm grasp on this language that we are speaking, then do you also believe you can understand this language however it may be used?

WE ,all of us understand at some level the most unintelligible of forum simpleton.

But would the uninitiated in the ways of gaming new-speak understand this same forum parlance as well as you and I?

Likely not.

Nor would the uninitiated understand these fellows even though they speak the same language as you and I.

Observe and If you can , understand.

*bows* Wow, this thread's been moving!

The word that is needed here is "intergration". Modern MMO's like to separate the big stuff from the rest of the world- they stick them in instances, behind piles of trash mobs and other trivial content.

The heck with that. Give the players the ability to call out these challenges on demand, and use that desire as a way to sink that immense credit production. I've been on both ends of the scale- I cut my teeth raiding the Plane of Hate on EQ, did my time on CoH, FFXI, WoW.

I hate seeing content locked away in random corners of maps behind a zone barrier. I loved exploring, finding places where fell things lurked...and seeing them fought. Nagafen. HNM's. World Bosses. Hamidon. Call them what you will. They were there, you fought them, whether it was solo or in entire mobs...and you wiped or won out in the open. Hacking my way into Undercity to take out the Banshee Queen, showering the angry Horde with ice and snow to keep them at bay while my companions tried to take down the ruler of the Forsaken.

But doing the instance while six other groups are doing the exact same thing at the exact same time, wiping and lockout timers and YOU MUST FOLLOW THE PATTERN EXACTLY TO WIN OH DEAR GAWD NOT AGAIN. One kind of fight felt like an epic battle. The other rapidly degenerated to endless cycles of the same thing, over and over, grinding and farming till my fingers went numb.

I want my epic mobs as part of the world, not part of the private sandbox. Worried about people camping the mob? Give us player-triggers to start the events. Let us have our PvP objectives be challenging PvE targets in and of themselves, the candy to lure players in who will never touch a warzone or want to get near Ilum with a 40-parsec pole. I want to see a horde of the Emperor's Finest crash a shuttle into a zone, pour out and start cutting up Jedi like in the SWTOR movies...and I want to be there with my Vanguard to try and thwart them. Or invade a ship in the Imperial Fleet to kill it's commander, while the enemy is attacking as fast as they can get shuttled over from the space station because players KNOW we're right there, not tucked behind a red glowy wall playing in our private little safe haven.

"Raid" content needs to be world content. When it's sandboxed, it doesn't add to the larger scale of things, or much of the story. If that means "casuals" get in on helping out, all the better. If it means I see some hard-scrabble bunch getting beat and I can save the day (or get my day saved), great. But no more ever-increasingly annoying linear series of bad guys to slay over and over and over and over and over again. Let us be free.

There is at least one item in the game that has been only legitimately looted....twice.

Ultra-rare drops (and hidden drops) definitely exist. The whole magenta crystal/shockfrozen water thing, for example...although well known now, it had to be discovered.

Hear hear! Great post. Couldn't agree more.

One addition: Regular world events > more flashpoints.
"Sounds like you could use a soldier."
