I can't wait! I'd hate to see the story of this game get sidelined, and forgotten....for any reason.

I was a dedicated raider myself but I actually like the fact (like someone mentioned) that I donīt have to approach it like a job.

The game has nitid flaws no doubt about that but Iīm not going to mention it again.

So you complain the game is easy but you infer that basic macro support should be ingame. Might I ask why?

Cause macros are the easy mode of mmoīs tbh and Iīm more than happy that they didnīt implement it cause then you will be as good as your hardware allows it (not mentioning people with programming skills have advantages).

Basically things that turn a game into easy mode (I agree it is easy atm so it would make it even easier) are passable. Manage that yourself. You donīt need stuff telling you what to do. You lost aggro on a mob? Figure it out yourself, donīt ask the game to do it for you.
This, so many times. Funny how content is too easy now, yet hardcores want macros/mods and the like to make it... Wait for it... Easier. Make's ZERO sense. But dont you know that the hardcores know what every MMO's needs and should be.

I find that harder then actual offline martial arts and sports, at least offline I know I get something in return for all the effort. o.o

Thank heavens this game has no RNG.

You know, you're right. I think that if those seeking a hardcore experience in order to feel superior to others got off the computer and exercised, trained in some martial arts or sports practice and went forth with that, they'd probably find exactly what they were looking for.

It's queer to me how certain people insist on looking in the wrong places for things as though the persistence of their insistence will suddenly make online happy-funtime games turn into the WWF in which they'll get their own theme song and five minutes with the mic in front of a booing or cheering audience if they only try a little harder.

It's one thing to want the game you're playing to offer a more compelling and interesting challenge. It's something else entirely when you want it to validate your ego.

From what I see...it is gear...same as other games...people do PvP to gain valor levels to gain gear to be able to continue to succeed to get more gear.

People continue to do the same FP's and Ops to get gear and to help their friends get the gear they desire that drops in those instances.

I am curious what your take is on that if not gear centric once the story line ends?
I was asking questions, not offering answers.

I'm unsure what the devs have planned for endgame in that sense, honestly. It appears to me that the present design is one that's very story-centric overall, as opposed to gear-centric... but of course once you've completed the story, what remains to do?

Clearly though it's impossible for (non-dynamic, non-user-generated) content to be created as fast as players can consume it, whether that content is a story or a flashpoint. Some players have grown accustomed to repeating content indefinitely for the sake of the rewards, and are upset that in SWTOR the rewards don't motivate them to repeat content indefinitely. Again though I think that's because the devs don't expect us to repeat the content indefinitely here. I can't say that I think this is a bad idea, either, when viewed in the abstract like that.

In WoW, people said the game begins at [whatever the level cap is at the time], because the whole focus of the game was on endgame gear. Nothing you did before that point really meant anything, from that perspective. In SWTOR, this is clearly not the case; the story starts at lvl 1, and there doesn't appear to be a lot of focus on endgame.

I can't disagree that this will turn a lot of players away once they hit that point. One meaningful question though is this: will SWTOR gain more casual players than it loses in hardcore players, by shifting focus from endgame to "game"? I really couldn't say.

Obviously there is a small gear grind at the top end right now. There are also social ties, as in any MMO, that can compel people to continue playing. There's some PvP support but not much. That's what's in game now. What other options are there?

It's possible in theory to add enough story (planet arcs, companion arcs, etc) to keep people playing after lvl 50 just as they did up to lvl 50. That's never yet been done though and none of us are really sure what it'd look like. It's possible that the devs envision a social-heavy endgame, which would be very RP-friendly, but I don't see a lot of support for that in game now; I'd expect to see minigames like sabacc/pod racing if that were the plan. And maybe that'll be added in time, but right now it leaves a lot of players guessing what the real plan is.

For me? Fun.

I can't say it enough but that's what drives me to play any game. Not gear, not "shinies" none of that. It's all about if I'm having fun playing. And I am having fun. Doing PvP, Running Flashpoints, hell even dancing on top of the mission box while talking nonsense in general chat.

I love the ones that try to hide this conflict by insisting such tools only make the game more convenient, not easier.

I love the game but a group of 8 people shouldnt walk into KP hard mode for the first time and one shot everything, which is exactly what we did. My guild isnt hardcore raiders in all rakata in fact 2 people were in there for the first time.
Wait... Why not? Why can't a group of 8 people be skilled enough and smart enough to down it first try? Not everyone are idiots you know. If the only reason I should fail is because I'm not supposed to succeed the first time then I'll ALWAYS disagree with you.

Because trivial content is not nearly as satisfying or rewarding, that's why. Maybe they should change the difficulties to easy, normal, and hard. That would at least make a little more sense. Things that are deemed hard are generally not supposed to be accomplished with minimal effort.
