If they need to do something they will expand the space content. They said they were expanding it in a big way. Why go for swimming when you have space?

Just remember, take a good look at was being discussed. I voiced my opinion just like you, and in less posts, so by threatening to "flag me" you only show how ignorant and immature you can be.

It wasn't a "personal attack" but more of an observation. If you have something to say, stop attacking other posters, getting defensive when someone disagrees with you, and trying to pull the flag card. You're not a Mod, you're not cool, and frankly you're getting a little old. You've voiced your opinions, we got it, move on. Maybe if you didn't say the same thing 23423 times in a row people might take you seriously. Until then you're just the little Troll Doll someone left in the corner wishing they got more attention.
Warnings serve as a reminder to you of the forum's rules, which you are expected to understand and follow.

All the best,
STAR WARS: The Old Republic

Moral of the story? Don't call a man a troll doll when he uses words and slang like FYI and BTW then threatens to flag

Now imagine trying that with 20 pounds of armor or heavy robes or trenchcoat on (or do they need to add a clothing removing animation everytime your character enters water?). Has anyone tried to swing your arms around while underwater as if swinging a sword or lightsaber? Again, its a difficult action.

Underwater combat is stupid, plain and simple. It takes away from "immersion" and especially from "real"-ism while adding no meaningful value to a game. It would be better to create a "Cloud City"-esque flashpoint or other great non-underwater areas.
Yeah when people talk about "immersion" they never think of this.

The simple fact that none of us would be swimming anyway with blasters or robes or heavy armor or leathers or any of the multitude of items we have on our persons, etc.

I am not against them putting this in the game as long as it is not at the expense of actual "playable" content and not simply fluff like sitting in a chair or a swimming for the sake of saying, "look, I can swim!"

Just another example of this game's lack of soul. It's just a bunch skins put over the same 4 or 5 models. There's no reason to explore. There's no sense of space in the world. Everything is instanced, cookie-cutter, bland.

edit: thsoe of you talking abotu swimming detracting from realism are hilarious. You're right, swimming in clothes is ridiculous and just plain IMPOSSI- oooh, cool laser sword!

Do you all realize that you can't transmit a laser beam a finite distance?

I suppose nobody would bother to learn to swim if all bodies of water in the galaxy were only two feet deep.

Seriously, though, it's this and other small immersion things that make this game feel rushed out the door. Sure, it's a minor issue to not have swimming, day/night cycles, weather, or more free roam ability (I hate exhaustion zones!), but to me the world design of the game lacks in comparison to other games I've played. I could see myself leaving due to this in the long run when the novelty of voice acting and the Star Wars IP wears off.

In short, we could use a small expansion or large content patch focused on the little things. Some of us might actually stop to admire a sunset on Tatooine or swim in a toxic cesspool on Hutta.

It's really not a big deal. There are plenty of things to do besides ponder swimming in the game, and there's no lack of signinficant things BW could work on or fix.
Failure to enforce the naming policy on RP servers is one reason I'm semi-retired from TOR. It's a sign that BW doesn't care about quality.

This is what i was driving at, in Star Wars, it would be space instead of water, but right now it's all lacking in SWTOR.

I think that perhaps you're over analysing what people consider to be immersive.

The fact is that other MMO's have had swimming in them, and whilst some people consider its inclusion as stupid / pointless / whatever, we must appreciate that others feel differently.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.
Supporter of having the following in the game:
Full Control Space Combat, More Playable Species (not unlockable),
Swimming, Sitting In Chairs, Planetary Day / Night Cycles and other MMORPG elements
MMO's are not meant to be films, and neither should they be movie-studio set tours

Just be happy you can jump. Dragon Age had an entire puzzle that could have been bypassed by simple jumping, had it been possible.
