The point is that these games do not ship with DPS meters. Its a gamer add on to make things easier. It was this way in EQ, it was this way in WoW and its like this now in SWTOR.
LOL, the analogies work fine, saying its just a gmae is what doesn't work.

Its a game...just like EVERY other game....all of them use tools to get better...all of them.

Like minded or not, when a tool like this is introduced into a gaming enviroment, it effects everyone - whether I choose to use it or not.

Anything integrated into my gaming enviroment via BioWare has an affect on my gaming. The argument of group with like minded people doesn't work.

Because the people that i may have been grouping with at one point and having fun with have now decide to use a parser too, because of the pressure put on by others - and the min/maxing nazi's have pushed their agenda down the throats of the common gamer.

It is the way a society evolves within a gaming enviroment. The enviroment becomes forever changed. 6 months from now, the community, the perceptions, and the way people go about interactin with others when it comes to grouping up for content has been completly changed by 1 tool integrated into this game.

You need to study the laws of Cause and Effect me thinks.
Players has proved this? WoW had meters and combat log from molten core, was community worse in eve, EQ, UO, DaoC and many other games than in ToR?

Fanboys here are in denial, but they will snap out of it once Guild Wars 2 ships with all the features that have been shown on the videos from the past weekend beta. It's EPIC. Period.
I'm actually as big of a fan as you could find. I love this game. I have three 50s and several mid-20s...

I'm calling for a combat log because that is what would be good for the game. Being blind to a game's faults doesn't really make someone a fan... I think it makes them more... well...

Blind.

These people are no longer like minded players...that is hard for you to grasp?

Also, stop being a victim.

So make it really interesting...

A closer analogy would be to have them do the math by hand without knowing half of the numbers involved and having to guess at the solutions.

They could try each number to every empty slot till they find right combo. trial and error yo!

Actually, as someone pointed out previously, all of the analogies that have been presented in this thread have been pretty horrific in hitting their target. Analogies are historically one of the worst ways to make a point because few things are apples to apples even in the same environment/context let alone when you start trying to compare a car w/ air conditioning to a DPS meter in an MMO.

I love this game, but I just can't believe some people ignoring some big issues with the game and then on top of that, they call them a game killer, community, or whatever the hell killer they can come up with.
