I'll take the lumps for that one.

I'm done with this thread for now. The current game has no need for a combat parser and when the time comes that it does most of you will be long gone playing the next big thing anyway.
Yeah, exposed as a hypocrite, so time to flee the thread.

Look. I want a combat log (and even damage meters eventually) to IMPROVE MYSELF.

Knowing what kills me is important. Knowing my own dps is useless. Knowing how my dps compares to other people in the group is important. Knowing how my dps compares to other people in the group that are the same class as me and the same spec as me is enormously important. If they are outperforming me, I can ask them what they are doing. I can look at their gear to see if they're stacking something I'm not.

I become a better player. All you care about is people persecuting you. You are content to be average or even below average as long as you squeak by - your own words. What a joke. You can be content to be a scrub if you want - let the real players play.

That i agree on, this game doesnt need meters on its current state where nightmare modes are easier than any of the molten core bosses and on the "long gone" part you are correct, unless they add logs and harder fights tonight when my gametime runs out. Good luck in the future and i hope everyone finds what they are looking for, in this game or some other one, including you.

There are no mods in TOR. How will this be performed, exactly?

Combat logs and similar measurements definitely have their use, however there is more to combat effectiveness than just raw DPS score, and no amount of whining can change that fact.

There were no mods in rift either and there was a combat parser within a week of the game going live.

This can be answered by asking another question, and answering it based on what happened:

Did the boss die?

Because logs are usually stored client side. So you have a standalone program which reads this log as its happening, and then spits out the answer. Like dmg done, who had the most dmg, what attack hit hardest...etc...etc...

Standalone dmg parsers existed since EQ. nothing new here. You do not need mods like WoW to parse logs.

Dont ask me for the programming specifics because im no programmer. But when a log comes out within a week we will have a damage parser. mark my words.
