Don't worry, I'm out the door next month when GW2 goes open beta followed by its launch. TERA goes live in May, The Secret World in June and so on.

This is the part where you tell me and others good riddance. Just remember, SWTOR ain't the game peeps tend to return to, that game is called Pandaland.
I don't judge a game by how old or new it is, I judge it by what it is when it is presented to me.

I, for one, expect more. My only other real MMO experience has been with Rift, and SWG. SWG was pretty bad. Rift, very good. TOR is better than SWG, yet barely worse than Rift. Having said that, I'm sticking with SWTOR because I believe it has the potential to be much better than Rift, but I find it disheartening that some of the most basic features of basically all other MMOs are left out of TOR.

I play this game because it's Star Wars, and I'm sticking with it now for that reason. Nevertheless, the movies (IV, V, VI) made me a fan of Star Wars. Rift made me a fan of MMOs. I'm probably done with Rift, and I hope to be playing TOR for a long time to come, but I've set a deadline by which this game will either meet my expectations or fall short of them and I'll cancel my subscription. That would be the release date of Guild Wars 2.

We subscribers give them millions of dollars every month. In my opinion, we all need to heighten our expectations.

Okay enough of this, I'm logging in ;D

Unfortunately, I think you're right. I enjoy discussing the success/failure of this game because it gives me insight into what kinds of players there are (and there are an infinite number of tastes) and what games those players gravitate toward. It also teaches me about business, game design, and community management--for free!

I wish people could appreciate each other and their arguments/opinions. I truly do.

I don't hate or dislike anyone in this thread--or on the forum--because they disagree with me. I assume that because we spend our time on the same forum shouting past each other is because we care about the game (success or fail).

EDIT - The must insulting thing someone can do on this forum is tell another person to leave or shut up. There's so much of that going on in this thread, and it's a shame.

Right now, my expectation is that it will be basically the same, they'll have fixed some of the bugs hopefully.

If I buy a new car, I expect it to come with air conditioning. If your excuse is that it's a new model this year and has only existed for 2 months... that's not going to fly.
Just play something else that has air conditioning then. We won't miss you.

Don't have anything to add, just want to agree with this but not do one of those +1 bump posts.

GW2 shows a little promise, lets see if it delivers. TERA.... yay another asian grind fest. Secret World looks terrible IMO. Just my opinions.

And no, I will not say good riddance, but keep in mind, people aren't leaving SWTOR fast enough to come back.

All the unsub posters are still here. Trolling the forums. Must mean they are still paying customers 2 months after launch.

My experience in reading these boards is that most complaints are purely conjecture laced with hyperbole. In short, the complainer either has no idea how MMORPGS launch and grow, or they have convinced themselves of something that simply does not exist.

That is not to say there are no bugs, issues, or aspects to be added to the game, but that most "complaints" are, well, unfounded.

It is a MMORPG. They launch with a basic shell then develop over the next 5 to 10 years as the game grows. Considering that this has been the best launch I've ever witnessed, the honest dedication of the Development team, next 5 or 10 years look very promising.

Heck, if I had any complaints at all it would be in regard to the board monitors, who seem to be a bit drunk with power. The game however, is great.

I agree.

Also, I think the monitors thread squashing, and the rage it generates, is very amusing.

There are some things in the game that make me go " On come ON! double yew Tee Eff?!" But not a lot. Not because it's not there, but because I've seen it before.

I wasn't there when WoW first launched, I came in a few months later. But it was still buggy as hell. I remember sitting in queues for about an hour an a half just to enter the game itself.

I remember the Blackrock server crashing so much that they formed a huge group on the server I played on, Argent Dawn, to protest. Blackrock would crash for days at a time. At the time we AD'ers would be pissed, but now we sorta laugh, BR players had, over time, become the loud party guy neighbor that tends to grow on you.

There is one thing that bothers me more about this game than anything, and it's not something Bioware can really fix. It's something we, as the players have to fix. I'm talking about people blocking everyone else out, playing with blinders on and pretty much atrophying any social muscle that's left.

I make it a point to acknowledge people, even if sometimes the answer is a no.

" Hey, anyone need Fall of the Locust?"
" Sorry, I just did it."
or
" yea. I could use that one! anyone else?"

I'm not saying you need to stop an answer every single utterance, but come ON. I see 30 people on a planet, I'm assuming, generously, that half have their general chat turned off. That still leaves 15 people being mindless drones.

Frustrating.

Edit: wow, they actually edited out the three letters double yew tee eff. That's kinda...sad. lol
