Did this game deliver on the hype?

Not really.

Heroic combat? Um ... its hard to feel "heroic" when NEED to use a pet to survive any encounter in the game past level 20ish (if that). Then there was all that talk about how its one vs many and how there wont be a "many guys beating on one boss" blah blah blah. No. lol, I was even thinking about this yesterday while fighting Bonethrasher ... pretty much the exact opposite of what they said. Hyped it up with new and exciting combat yet in the end we got the same old same old.

The story? ... starter planets? Awesome. The rest? Um ... way to slack it. I knew it was coming but I at least figured the world arc would be more than tiny episodes split between each of the planets 3 zones!

Crafting? Oh my, way to miss the mark. HERE "We’ve spent quite a bit of time discussing how to ensure that crafters – true dedicated crafters – can make a name for themselves and be important in their community" .... uh huh.

Then of course there is all the smaller b/s like space combat and the massive amount of bugs considering the game was delayed for about a year.

Good game ... it doesnt really do anything other than VO and Star Wars better than other MMO's which is pretty much whats keeping me playing but ... well not sure how thatll be.

Well, I didn't let myself get over-hyped about it. Been there, done that, learned my lesson. I had a pretty good idea of what BioWare was going to deliver from what they said in their videos and what not.

So, yes, to me BioWare delivered on every feature they advertised.

They advertised story driven and full voice acting. Check
They advertised that they would have PVP. Check
They advertised that we would have companions. Check
They advertised that we would have stuff to do at level cap. Check
..

The list goes on, but the features they have advertised, are there.

My issues with this game are strictly technical. I'm sick of client freezes/crashes, graphics anomolies and artifacting, underwhelming texture quality made even worse by a texture atlas system that can't even decide what resolution textures to display when I'm the only avatar on the screen with no other animations in my immediate vicinity, quest bugs, storyline bugs, companion bugs... etc.. etc..

That said, I'm still subbed and plan on staying subbed.

Bugs get fixed. Content gets added. Graphics get overhauled. In-game systems change and evolve over time etc...

The game is amazing, and I look forward to watching it mature.

it's not a bad game, but it has not even come remotely close to deliver.

Everybody knows this should have been kotor 3 and not an mmo.

They said that endgame combat wasn't going to revolve around a bunch of players beating on one giant mob. Umm... no check.

They said they knew the difference between sandbox and theme park and that they were going to find a happy medium between the two. NO CHECK. This is the most linear game ever.

They said the game wasn't overly instanced. Umm... other than Guild Wars this is the most instanced game ever.

They bragged about the billions of different customization options, totally obfuscating the fact that, in reality, your options are two genders, each with 4 human bodies with human faces, and different skin colors and hair styles.

They advertised how the consequences of your decisions were going to totally make this better than a SPRPG because there was no save button. Then they waffled and put in light-side / dark-side markers and the ability to escape-out and re-do any conversation if you don't like the outcome.

They said there were "huge open worlds that go on and on..." making it sound like the terrain was open rather than designed like a maze to hand-hold you from quest hub to quest hub.

They said being a "grey" player would be just as viable as being full light or full dark.

They said a lot of things that were either false or deceptive or got changed later.

WoW launched seven years ago. Stop comparing a seven-year-old game to a game that launched in 2011 - unless you're naive enough to believe that ToR should be held to the standard of WoW seven years ago.

With PvP that's broken in several different ways.

Only complete, total, and insane idiots think every person that complains about this game came from Wow.

I, for one, did not come from WoW. I played it for 15 minutes in a trial before I decided you had to be a vapid, inane simpleton to like it (sorry, WoWkids, just my opinion).

And I have to tell you that I think ToR is worse.

No this game failed to live upto the hype. Long answer it would have been almost impossible for it to sucseed. However it could have had a much better ground work to build on than it has. Personaly the biggest issue I have seen is character creation and customization. It fails so badly I feel like I am playing John Shepard or Hawke again not my own character so when the story ended so did my enjoyment of the game.

Did you know you come off as a major jerk? You must think you are on some kind of elite level or something. In reality you arent though. Try being nice for a change, you might make a friend. Oh and this game is great.

Well I don't hop onto hype trains so my expectaions were the same for every game I look forward to. I believe Bioware has delivered magnificently. I have really enjoyed the two weeks I have been playing the game and will continue to play it. I also look forward to the things they plan on bringing over the years.
