I really hope Bioware sticks to their guns on this one.

The complaints will never end. After that it will be, flashpoints are too hard or take too long, or they get kicked or cant kick people, or ninja looters and griefers and on and on.
I need about tree fitty.

There is no useful LFG tool now, so do you like the current situation and if so, what do you like about it?

I like what Bioware has proposed, and I hope they stick with that.

I want a cross server LFG tool. I want it to pull players in from all 214 servers if possible. My daily game experience now consists of spamming LFG in general for half an hour then logging out in frustration. I'm pretty close to done, actually, which is a shame because on the odd miracle I can find a group, it is an enjoyable experience.

And yes, I am in a guild, and they have chosen to do nothing but WZs because of the ease of the queue. My server does not have a population problem, it has an anti-social player base problem.

Same server LFG?

But have they coupled that with server mergers (I haven't heard if they have or haven't), because this goes hand in hand, doesn't it? A same server LFG works for highly populated ones, but won't do anything for low pop ones. So, you would need to merge servers then have a same server tool. No?

Rift nerfed once to as you say "flatten the progression curve" pre x-realm, then they nerfed all content associated with x-realm again and again after they added it to the point that it was stupid easy and people started leaving. Trion responded with "master mode" dungeons.

BTW, once any boss has been downed a few times in any mmo then "smoothing out the progression curve" is codeword for "everyone gets a trophy."

I've played Rift since Beta, including an HK raid last night. The pre x-realm raid content nerf wasn't any sort of nerf, it was repair to mechanics that were not working as intended. Fixing something broken doesn't represent a nerf. It made content difficulty appropriate instead of folks needing to be overgeared.

I can only assume you are talking about transitioning away from T1 and T2 dungeons to simply expert mode dungeons when you are talking the mythical "x-realm" nerf. This doesn't have anything to do with x-realm, this has to do with helping people get prepared for higher tier raids.

Master Mode dungeons were introduced because people who were raid geared found T1 and T2 dungeons trivial. Of course they were trivial. You're in raid gear doing group content. So they introduced master mode dungeons that require some raid gear to complete, and offer loot that serves as a bridge between dungeon gear and raid gear. Again.....smoothing out the progression curve. It offers players some content where mechanics require more coordination than expert mode dungeons, which is good practice for ten and twenty man raids.

The entire process has been about offering many different levels of difficulty so that no matter where you are in progression, there is challenging content available that is also realistic for you and similar geared friends to complete. It's been very successful.
Memnon - 50 Commando ~ Untagonis - 50 Juggs
Adepta - 50 Sniper ~ Khatovar - 50 Sin ~ Varpaal - Mid level Sin
Antagonis - Mid level Operative ~ Jenize - Mid level Sentinel
Osanobua - Mid level Merc ~ Ka'Tahar - Mid level Juggs

If they need to merge servers that's their choice. But no, you really don't need to merge servers to allow people to find groups. People will do what they need to do to get into the content they want if it's important enough to them.

My experience with dungeon queues.

WoW BC same server queue. 30 minutes- 1 hour for any queue, even for a healer, which I was. These queues were more or less abandoned after a few weeks and became an almost completely unused part of the game, to the point where most people probably don't even remember them existing.

Rift same server queue. Pre level 50, never got a single queue, EVER.... EVER!!! Tank, Healer, DPS, didn't matter. At 50 20-30 minutes or so unless it was late you would sit in it forever. I always tanked, so it was probably ever worse for DPS.

WoW WotLK cross server queue. DPS queues 10-20 minutes, tank or healer queues anywhere from instant to 2 or 3 minutes. You can level all the way up to 85 doing nothing but dungeons if you want, with very little down time. You were almost guaranteed to get a queue everytime. For me it was one of the best additions ever to that game, and an industry standard that I have yet to see another MMO reach.

If dungeon queues are not cross server, they will probably be worthless pre level 50, and take a lot longer than they should at 50. And god forbid you are on a low pop server on Republic. I'll take a functional, fast LFG system over an MMO "Community" anyday. I don't play this game to make friends.

Cheers.
Why? Based on the population of many servers, it's going to do nothing for a lot of players.
