My wife was on the net this morning and saw an ad for swtor on an unrelated non gaming site which said the game was on sale. We clicked the link and ended up on the Origin site and indeed the basic edition was on sale for $ 10.00 off - one day only. That kind of blew our minds because this is a new game just out of launch and it seems very early to start selling the game at a sale price.

I am not sure what this means. I thought that the game was doing well. Anyone have any ideas?

You're fishing for deeper meaning where there isn't any to really be found.

It is President's Day in the US and it is the first post holiday big sales day event. Probably a one day sales event in honor of that. $10 bucks isn't what I would call a red flag they are giving it away just yet.
May the common SENSE be with you, ALWAYS!

It means Origin wants more business. They sell it for $10 off, it still puts more cash in their pocket than Best Buy selling one today at regular price.

Most MMO's/games go on sale within a few weeks of launch. It drums up a ton of business before the sale offer ends and the prices go back up.

I dont think means anything, they just put it on a 1 day sale. Just another marketing practice everyone uses, not just mmo's.

I wouldn't read too much into it. The timing seems about right. I am, however, only an old PC game enthusiast and know little of the ways of marketing.
As of December, I feel more like I do now than I did before.

Mr Marketing Man, it maybe that they are going to do another CD run, so the box maybe different and they want to clear the stock, or it could be a cynical ply by large tenticled alans
