Vanguard Stats - Aim, Strength, or both?

Sup fellas.

As a Vanguard, specifically Tactics specced, does Aim increase damage for all abilities?

What about Gut? Stockstrike? Ion Pulse? Do I need strength at all? Tech power?

Would love to get some theorycrafting discussion going on this.

From My understsanding of the Class as I play it,
AIM and Edurance is the only two stats you should worry about for Trooper.

Aim modifies all offensive (blaster, explosive) and healing abilities the trooper has.

You only need to worry about Aim and your defensive stats (and endurance) as a Vanguard tank.

Aim modifies healing for commandos in addition to blaster shots and explosives.

Just mouse over the stat to see what it does, no theorycrafting required.

So increasing aim will increase trooper melee abilites like gut and stockstrike? Please don't "brush off" the topic if you're not interested in discussing it ... just move on. I like to clearly understand mechanics like this.

If it is as clear as "yes, aim increases melee too", then fine, clearly state that.

I'm sorry that "all offensive and healing abilities" was somehow unclear.

Yes it modifies melee strikes too. EVERYTHING.

TOR has (since 3 or so builds ago) become a 'one stat' game. You don't have to raise multiple stats aside from some secondaries (haste/alacrity, crit, etc).

well dang, they should change those mouseovers so it says "modifies all Vanguard skills"

Or the codex entries that tell you "aim is your primary stat."

Oh yay! I've always dreamed of mindlessly droning on without having to worry about silly things like stats! Aim increasing healing output and physical attack damage? Sure! Why not? It'll give me more time to plan the rest of my build on this deep, fleshed out system..... /sarcasm

As much as I LOVE this game, I am horribly dissapointed with how they are handling stats in this game. In LOTRO, you had to play around with all your stats that all had different uses. You wanted to heal as a captain? You raised Intelligence and Willpower. But with the latest expansion, they changed it so that Might increases healing output and crit chance (***?!?!).

I hate that system. Completely removes any choices or decisions to take when comparing gear. Just pick the one with the higher numbers and you're done. There's nothing special about them at all! If at LEAST they had higher level gear sets that affected some of your skills. Like increasing range, damage output, max # of targets, whatever. If you want to lkeep the "one stat" system, fine! Atleast give us SOMETHING to choose from. Make gear selection actually relevant, for the love of The Force!

Did something change I thought Troopers were more Aim gives .2 for ranged damage and Cunning gives .2 tech damage?

Str gives .2 melee damage and Will gives .2 force damage.
I'm sleeping at a La Quinta Inn so I'm fully rested to kickbutt and take names at launch.
