If they could make this game function more like EVE online in terms of factions and choices we make, this would honestly be the best MMO ever.

Eh, all of my characters are Republic and I like it just fine.

To each his own I guess.

I have two mains... A Republic Gunslinger and an Empire Powertech.

I found both storylines to be very good so far and so on that level, it's a wash.

From a PvE perspective, I find that they are both very effective in most situations, although my Gunsligner does seem to have more AOE and Holds which is handy against mobs, especially droids. Also, my Gunslinger is specced to do some massive burst damage against targets, so I can clear mobs pretty quickly. That said, my Bounty Hunter is more mobile and a bit more fun to play from that perspective, but it's more micromanagement to use his skills well. So for PvE... it's a wash.

Where I see the biggest difference is in PvP and to be frank, it really depends on the others with you.

In PvP, I find that my Bounty Hunter holds his own in pretty much any situation with varying degrees of support from my team mates. Overall, whether I have poor or decent support, I finish in top 1/3 for damage, deaths, kills and objectives. So, I find that the Bounty Hunter relies less on others to enjoy.

My Gunslinger is a completely different beast. If I end up in PvP on a relatively poorly supported team, my Gunsligner is very ineffective and has very poor durability. The reliance upon cover makes me an easy target for pretty much anything and so, without good support from healers or whatnot, it's not a good experience.

However, with a good healer and some good support players, my Gunsligner is a force to be reckoned with and is nearly indestructable. If I find a good spot, go into cover and have someone spam healing on me, I can do more damage than you can imagine and will rank in top 1/5 every time. Also, I have found that on most maps, a strong Republic side will roll a mid/strongish Empire side completely and beat a strong Empire team 3 times out of 5.

So I what I would have to conclude from my own experience and speaking with others, is that Republic is a faction that works best when collaborating and cooperating with other Republic classes, especially in PvP.

So I guess Empire is more about ME and Republic seems to be more about TEAM.

Anyhow... I will continue to play both mains, but I must also add that my alts will mostly be Republic classes because I am more drawn to the light side than the dark.

Cheers!

You're missing out on the funnier storylines of TOR. I have my main character on Republic and play Republic most of the time, but I do have alts on the Empire side. It's really worth a look.

As someone who is leveling a Dark Jedi (My shadow is at 40 now), and having leveled the mirror class to almost 50, I have to say that Dark Jedi is a ton more fun because everyone is so shocked that you're doing what you're doing. Just like you, these NPC's expect the "stereotypical Jedi crap" and when you do the complete opposites, their reactions are often hilarious, sometimes priceless, always worth a chuckle.

I highly recommend you try it out.

Well thats a lie I actually get faster queue times on my Empire characters. Sure it might be Huttball but thats still PvP and its better than sitting around crafting in Fleet and waiting for queues to pop.

Every day the number of Republic in Fleet dwindles down on my server. Used to be 200 in Fleet when I started now hardly over 100. People are rerolling in droves because finding raiding guilds is impossible hell even finding normal FP groups is near impossible. Theres never mats, schematics, or a good supply of gear/mods on the GTN and stuff that sells like hotcakes on Empire side never sells at all on Republic cause theres no one to buy it. Also I go to Imperial Fleet and its full of chat for people forming groups of all levels even EV groups. Then go to Republic Fleet and /Crickets.

Is BioWare ever going to fix this crap or is this game intended to be a single faction game?
They should have made the game like SWG. All proff can go imperial or rebel. Problem solved.

I never liked the way they chose to set this up right from the start. t was begging for an unbalance.
