The first one was Alderaan and though I like this one I couldn't play it. The lag was evident in the first few seconds when I tried to click on the speeder to go down and it took more than 30 seconds to even register and show me leaving.

The second warzone was Voidstar, now this one was not as bad as Alderaan, but the lag was still there and noticeable. It is almost impossible for me to be competitive in Pvp as a Sith Sin and lag like I do.

I am running a Asus G73jh:
Intel quad-core I7 1.6ghz over-clocked to 2.6ghz
8 gigs of DDR3 ram
Ati Radeon Mobility HD 5870
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
Comcast 15+mbps connection with a Netgear router

I have reflashed my BIOS and Video BIOS for the ATI issue. Have all drivers updated even tried rolling them back. I have all ports open through my router. No firewall/AV stopping anything. I have tried doing a Clean Boot. Tried using a buddies internet. I have done almost everything I can think of to fix this issue that I only have on this game.

I can play Battlefield 3, Wow, Batman Arkham Asylum with no issues. Company Of Heros, Sid Meier's Civilization V, The Witcher 1 and 2 all max settings with no issues/problems. I can't get over 30 fps on the fleet and load times are horrible going to planets.

I am not a huge PvEr anymore, I don't even like the quest in this game and really just wanted to PvP on my Sin, but due to lag I can't. I normally have 50-60ms on the server and during warzones less than 12 fps.

TL;DR: Y U Lag N Warzones SWTOR? Any suggestions on a fix?

Hope you are still reading this. I have G73JW-XT1.

First my main problem was cloged up vents, my second problem was lack of DX9c on Win7. I had used forced air on my laptop but because it was under warranty I had it cleaned by ASUS, I mean I was running at 100 degrees celsius. After laptop came back I tried plying agan and it was solid at 25fps in Aldreaan warzone. I then installed DX9.0c from microsoft.com and BAM! 45FPS in alderaan and no more lag.

Also make sure you are running at full power. All of the little lag spikes are your GPU readjustig its speed. There was a video guide "3 steps to improve SWTOR on nVidia card" there is same video for ATI cards as well.

Get throttlestop and observe your cpu/gpu temp/speed.

sorry for typos I am responding from train while on my tablet :P

Hey, thanks for the reply. My laptop is not under warranty so I disassembled it myself and cleaned it out wasn't hard just have to be careful. My temps average about 80c with my laptop cooler on and fans at 50% or so.

I believe I am running DX11 on my laptop I will try the DX9.0 did you delete DX11?
Laptop is plugged in battery charged and in performance mode TwinTurbo mode is on also I will also look for that video.

Again, Thank you for the reply.

Sorry for slow reply. No do not delete DX11 I don;t think you could even if you've tried. You see someone made post about DX9.0C one day after game launched and if I had seen it then it would've solved a lot of my problems. I found out about it via reddit.com/r/swtor.

Forgot to mention, use ASUS power gear or power hybrid util and set CPU/GPU to 100%.

What amazes me is how did they manage to make such a dated looking game with craptastic performance.

Terrible engine is terrible.

I agree, I mean I don't understand how Battlefield 3 with 64 players, tanks, vehicles, jets, and helicopters. Can run better than this game. I am not bashing I just want to be able to play the game like I paid to do.

I would much rather log in and PvP than quest or run a scripted dungeon. I am level and have no desire to re-roll or even quest. I just feel like I wasted fifteen dollars.

Power Gear is set to max CPU/GPU on my Performance tab. I will check our reddit and see if I can find that post.

My gaming laptop is a i7 and I have the same video card as the OP with a much faster connection and I NEVER have lag in warzones.

Game still sucks at 50 in regards to pvp but just saying.

It could be my connection though I doubt it. I have no idea what the issue is. Though I have canceled my sub and will probably delete the game again. I hate too after spending another fifteen dollars on it.

With a 15mb connection is very possible. Especially if you are wireless or have wireless with insufficient security. A bigger possibly is if you are sharing the same network with others who are doing anything from basic browsing, console gaming, to downloading or streaming video. So remember, If you have lag its one of three things. Its your PC, your connection, or both.

I can't tell you how many times I've seen someone uniformed on how networking works say "its not my connection" or " I know my connection is good" and it ends up being their connection.

1. Try disabling your shadows if you have them enabled.

2. If you are wireless, try a direct connection and see if that helps.
