All my characters sort of evolve their own pick of armor colors, and while my consular (brown and green) and sentinel (gold, yellow, brown) could have their pick of white armor, my guardian has to head straight to cartel items. Btw I heard they actually had a hood toggle in early beta which was quite functional. They have hood-down models for all the chestpieces and it was possible to switch between them.
