The solution has been with us for many many years, it is present in the mudds that are still running and was present in the mudds that are no longer running. There should be such a thing as Player Killing zones.

Somebody rolls on a piece of gear meant for your class or is in another way a D-Bag, or if you just plain don't like the player then go track him down and kill him while he is in said PK areas.

Made the game a heck of a lot nicer as far as folks being D-Bags and ninja looters ect. Why you know if you did such a thing then the other players would come and kill you. Heck CPK areas where the best you not only got killed by the player you screwed over you lost gear to them to.

I haven't read all the posts, but I just had an epiphany while thinking on the issue. I know there have been suggestions like adding a "companion" button and a "pass" button, but once we get to 4 buttons, it's just to complicated. Just using a "need" restriction is complicated to as it doesn't allow for a geared group to let people roll need for companions. So here is the proposal:

Two buttons: Roll / Pass
Four Checkboxes: Character, Companion, Mods, Vendor

- Character checkbox is calculated and locked.
- All others are defaulted on and editable.
- Group/Operation leader gets a "Loot Qualtiy" option that is All, Character, Companion, Mods, None. All splits all rolls Character > Companion > Mods > Vendor. Character is Character > Any other roll. Companion is Character = Companion > Any other roll. Mods is Character = Companion = Mods > Vendor. None ignores checkboxes and everyone rolls or passes.

This adds the complexity, while keeping it simple. By default you would normally just want to hit roll or pass. Thoughts?

lol is right! Where'd he pull that number from?

I'd say it's more like 95%.

@OP, they should have made the loot mechanic to where A) You couldn't roll Need on gear you cannot use, and B) If you cannot use it, but a companion can (and companion gear is a legitimate concern) then it there should be a Companion Need option. Other than that, I can't imagine someone not going after a item they want/need just because someone else told them not to. Sure, Ninja's suck, but ultimately whatever they ninja shouldn't be devastating your day. If I run into Ninja's maybe a handful of times per year (including other games, obviously) then how many times could you be running into this problem for it to bother you so much? What could YOU be doing differently?
Just because I do not care, does not mean I do not understand.

You people put way too much thought into this stuff. Its just a game and pitching a fit about a line of code you didn't get is a waste of time. Bottom line if you want something then press NEED and let the rest of us enjoy the game without your incessant whining. As a side note most of the quest items blow compared to what you can get at the pvp store or on the marketplace.

If you think its bad now, just wait until the Flashpoint Finder is activated. Then you will have no say who is in your party.

Atleast with this current system these ninja's and noob-looters will eventually struggle to get into groups so long as people report them to other people - word of mouth and all that jazz.

All the while the game stays server only, people can gain and lose reputaion with others whether it's through PvP knowing who's good and bad at it or the same for Flashpoints.

You'd say anything..

Have you got numbers, stats, indeed, have you got anything at all, to back that number up?

No you haven't you pulled it out of your hat. And so, it's just meaningless.

Ninja? noob-looters? Way to go with the insults !

If you win something, it is not a jinja.. How many people do I need to teach this to?

I have never *struggled* to get into a group at all. So that's that speculative idea out the window.

Word of mouth? Really? On a server with so many players, do you really think everyone is going to just drop what they're doing to answer your call?

I don't think so.. That's another speculative idea out the window.

Truth is;

* Raiders will most likely not even be in /chat nor care.
* Casual players are too busy.

If I see someone whining about loot on /chat, I ignore it.

Face it, all the threats of PvP, mass excommunication, reports to your mommy, are jelly and ice-cream threats. Mean nothing and are just plain immature.

Guess what? Chances are that someone rolling for appearance over stats will know how to use item modifications properly and have better itemization than the avarage kid that rolls because the numbers on a drop are higher than the numbers on his/her old gear.
