Like I said before.

It's time we all became one group.

Humans.
Torm you are right, but the world 'being united' is something that can only happen when everyone and every community is accepted equally. Its a very political issue that has been posted by the OP one that requires a lot more argument, thought and research (probably best argued out somewhere other than a Star Wars site) and because this issue is still a very grey area it will always be the case of 'walking on shells'.

But yes, from my own personal experience, I have found that 'sometimes' these communities/groups 'can' end up segregating themselves but not all of them. If I explained, I would bore you to tears so I won't LOL!

You wouldn't bore me to tears.

General Discussion bores me to tears.

It's my belief that the world can "unit" when everyone gets over themselves and learns to laugh a little more.

Not so bad, since I don't really consider myself to be typical.

Our melanin enriched chief executive's Attorney General, Eric Holder, commented that, with regard to race issues, we are a nation of cowards because we prefer to act like racial divides do not exist. I agree with this statement, and with your call to become unified under the banner of humanity. I think your goal requires frank, honest, and open discussion of the things that set groups apart, so that we can get past them.

Or to just get the heck over it all together.

The only thing holding a person back in this country is themselves.

Anyone that thinks otherwise is just making excuses and looking for a free ride.

I'm flattered. I also agree with you.

From my perspective, prohibiting the use of the word g-a-y because it might be used offensively is walking on eggshells. It is a policy created, with good intentions, in an effort to keep someone from being offended by someone else.

I say we should quit treating the "GLBT" crowd like delicate flowers, and start treating them like everyone else.

A word like, for example, Caucasian. I realized that I would feel marginalized, and rightly so, if I was in a group singled out to have an inherent characteristic treated in the same manner as excrement or fornication.

This issue has very little with the law, or with rights under the constitution. The issue here is that the OP feels insulted, and that BioWare - with very likely the best of intentions - unintentionally treated a group of people with disrespect. It is not unreasonable to ask that BioWare notice correct that.
I would actually be in the same situation as the OP and personally censoring the words doesn't bother me but I do respect the OPs view because I know how sensitive some people are to certain things.

Like I said in response to Torm it's all a very grey area. You have already seen the few arguments above and an issue like this simply cannot hope to be resolved in a forum. What I was saying is that in the end Bioware only have to uphold the law.

If on one hand you got a lot of people who are going to mis-use the word and on the other hand you got a few people who are upset by censoring it's better to leave it blocked, unless the law in that area states they cannot.

Politically speaking those words are not swear words so I'd personally say it's wrong to block the words.
If Bioware unblock the word then great, but if people started mis-using the word it then becomes another issue entirely as in 'what context' they used the word, so it opens a can of worms of politics and more arguments and I'm sure many companies including Bioware can do without that kind of hassle.

I doubt this will ever happen. look at history. in europe, people were segregated by class. who was the richest and who was the poorest. when they came america, all classes became one because rich people had no place in a land where there were only trees and rivers. all needed to work together to build america. so instead, they segregated by race. its undeniable that people consciously or unconsciously compare themselve to others to define their own self worth. now its not only race, but orientation. just like religon or ethnicity, i cant see people of orientation as a whole becoming one group. its like highschool in the real world. youve got your "Cliques".
and, i know this wont be all that popular of a thought, but how people view certian things,be it good or bad, is a part of who they are. and telling them that they should change their views so all can get along is an attack on individualism. if someone is islamic, and a christain zelot wants them to change, thats an attack on individualism. that person chose to be islamic, and someone wants them to change. a black man goes into a restaurant, say fourty years ago, and is told that its a whites only place and should leave. that's not just racism, its an attack on who they are. so my point is, your not gonna be able to sway all other people's opinions. what they think is a part of who they are.
So Say We All!...snap, i mean, May The Force Be With You.
