Need roll is for when you want an item and have a valid reason to need it
Greed roll is for when you want an item but don't have a valid reason to need it

Now for every reason I can think of to want an item, I can always make up some excuse why it improves my gameplay so that I actually need it for a valid reasons.

Still at the same time, I can also, for all of those reasons, make up some excuse why I really don't need it, because I can still go on without it.

Without better definitions, everything can be seen as a valid reason or nothing can be seen as a valid reason just as well, and there is no way to tell the difference.

So unless you can clearly define what validates a need, saying "Validity of the need is actually the real answer" does not answer anything at all.

Translation: "I don't know how to define need and greed, so I'm just going to pretend that I have answer for it, and that I just don't need to define it"
Doesnt matter how you define it. Right or wrong, they're going to do as they please anyway.

Only fair way left is to remove the need button.

If you should not roll need for companions because you will not be using them in group content, does that mean that someone who is planning to solo after the FP should not roll need on anything at all, even for themselves, because it is not needed for solo content?

You made a statement that I believed it was fine to roll Need on anything at any time, and I laid out the actual situations in which I rolled Need, which certainly wasn't "on anything at any time". I really think you need to work on either your short-term memory (which shouldn't be necessary since the posts are there for you to refer to) or your reading comprehension, because you're completely stepping all over yourself in an ongoing attempt to discredit me.

An ongoing attempt that's miserably failing, likewise.
I don't need to discredit you. You have made it clear what type of player you are, and people can choose to group with you or not.

I am simply disagreeing with your perspective.

P.S.
The default option of the "Quote" option on these forums doesn't quote quotes within quotes. Quit crying about "context".

Right?
Personally, I'd never 'need' on credits. If I need something for the others you mention then sure. Why not.
What is that baseball bat in your signature? Oh! It's a lightsaber! How cute is that !

Yes, I've made it clear I'm a player who's going to roll Need on things I actually need. This must make me ten kinds of demonic evil for doing what the system intends, right?

Of course people can choose to group with me or not, a choice I can likewise make. You're stating the obvious, but to what purpose, I wonder? Do you somehow think there are participants in this thread, or even lurkers reading it, who don't understand we always have the option of choosing who we're grouped with?

You're disagreeing with my perspective, and then turning around (amidst earlier ad hominem attacks) and attributing agreements or statements to me that were never made, and you're now getting upset about someone wanting you to quote them in context? What, would you rather I quote you out of context? Sure, I can do that, here you go:

Those are your words from your above post. Why do you want to hide what kind of player you are?

And so we come full circle, nothing to constructively add so resort to attack mode.

No-one else has had problems quoting. In fact we one chap quoting 30-40 players here before all in one post, but you're having problems with just one?

If the companion is in the run they have the same rights as anyone else. If they're not there they have no rights to anything there.

But the player does. And the player controls the companion. Ergo..

Actually, someone said they would do exactly that in a thread like this one. Reason? Because he can.

Anyone who plays considerately will never be able to sway the minds of people like the one I mentioned. Mainly, because they don't care, they are greedy...even in a game where gear and credits are so easy to come by, its crazy that they can't be courteous toward their fellow player for even a moment. They see no problem with that, and I pity them.

You can say I am attacking you if you are of this mindset, and I will say you are trying to rationalize being a douche to your fellow player, because you can.
