I opened a support ticket but it was closed and their response was to "update video drivers" which I had told them in the ticket I had done. I've tried defragging and I shut down my anti-virus software. I ran WD Data Lifeguard for Windows and my drives checked out fine. Last night I removed SWTOR completely and installed it on a new drive. This didn't fix the issue.

Please give an update if you've had success or not.
nah it has not worked, this is starting to tick me off

I found a solution that worked for ME and many others!

*This solution was found out AFTER finding our that SWTOR does NOT always game your gaming preferences.

1.) Go to your SWTOR Install directory (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars-The Old Republic)
2.) Go to the 'swtor\retailclient' directory
3.) Open "client_defaults.ini" with notepad
4.) Change the following to the BOLDED values:
  • FullScreen=false
  • doShadows=false

I hope this helps!
