I agree, the graphics are ok, but not worthy of a 2011 mmo

Needs more detailed character thextures. The current textures look so washed up and ugly. And yes, in WoW you can zoom in to your character, cartoony as it is, and observe the minor details of your character's armor. So yeah, wow kinda wins this one.

Come on BW it's almost 2012, not 2002.
Choices need to matter! If I die I need to live with it. Hardcore!

Textures look amazing in cutscenes, but then they go to **** out of cutscenes. I have no idea why, everything is set to high.

I've been reading this post for some time and i am kind of amazed with the the time that some people put into replying to this thread to say stuff like "it's normal for mmo's to have bad graphics" and "game looks good, they did a good job" when it is so frickin obvious that there is a problem with textures, specially character textures (maybe cuz they are more noticeable)... these people should be playing the game that they are so happy with and not making me waste my time reading their useless posts...

I must admit, that i don't have a a top notch gaming computer, and probably i wont be able to run the game with high res textures, but i can understand the frustration of ppl that have good gaming rigs and are simply forced to look at blurry textures. Since the game launched i've been tweaking the settings so far I've managed to get the game to run in a way that i find acceptable, except for the damn textures... they are game breaking for me and i hope this issue gets fixed soon

Well I’m glad I’m not the only one.

After I made this topic I made the .ini tweaks, and played around with the ( turn high settings on of and logout ) stuff.

Sometimes it looks like the textures are getting sharper, and other times they go back to the Minecraft stage.

I think there is no doubt that a high rez pack will come at one point ( hope soon ).

And now when i see all my fellow gamers feel the same ( yes there the fanboys with their toaster machined out there ) but most of us feel that all the great art and 3d models could use High Rez textures and better Bumb/Normal maps.

I thank you all !!

I guess if enough talk about it....they will come !!

Just watched the launch documentry vid...I want those graphics and not what is in game. Now don't get me wrong, it looks ok but when you get to planets like Hoth you REALLY start to notice how yucky the textures are. I have all setting cranked but it still looks like it was made 10 years ago. Dev stated in that doc vid how they went for 'stylized realism', well I am not seeing that in all areas in the game, especially the terrain.

Now some areas are certainly well done, but many are not. So hopefulley as time goes on, they will polish up certain areas that look terrible.

Lastly...this game desperately needs night/day cycle period and or weather. Even in the doc vid they showed Luke viewing the ICONIC Tat sunset. In this game, tat is sunny 24/7. Yea...

Accepting the graphics as they currently are is an absolute joke, why? Because this isn't how SWTOR should look. People criticizing us for moaning about it need to properly read the thread. This is a texture bug, and unacceptable really. I could even understand if it was being done to help with a smoother launch or something but I don't see how. Wish Bioware would at the very least acknowledge this but it seems they'd prefer to ignore it.

For me, I get low textures throughout. Game play and in cut scenes and I have to say they look horrible in the cut scenes. That Jedi Temple scene look like an early PS2 title and it really put a downer on me. Asked @Rockjaw about it again on Twitter but the chances of getting a reply are slim as I'm sure I'm one of a billion trying to ask him questions. Would like them to at least acknowledge it.

At least I can play, friend hasn't been able to get the game working since early access began. Just when I was saying how smooth the launch as been compared to others I've experienced. Disappointing.

I couldn't agree more. I have absolutely NO clue how people can look at the graphics (especially those who claim to have high end machines and everything set to highest) and say the game looks FINE.

Either they are blind, ignorant or just trolling... there is no way you can't notice how blurry and low quality the armor textures get in-game.

Yes, they do look decent enough in cutscenes for the most part (if you tweaked the ini file)... and the occasional armor piece even looks good on your character in-game. But for the most part they make my eyes bleed... badly.

Graphics are very important to me. Whenever i can't play a new game on the highest quality settings without having severe FPS drops i upgrade my PC... having to play SWTOR in this state just pains me to no end.
