Damage Meter, how to get if you want?

Even better.
How do you tell how many times your healers dispelled or who has been interrupting.
Sure people can claim that they do it but in a 16 man raid it is very hard to see it.
There are tons of other things that you can't monitor by just watching people and that are important to know.

Get to know the character you play and how different items and spec's affect him/her.

I'm personally against all kinds of Meters and Boss Mods and all the other 100000 mods people use in games like WoW..

I am all for a open UI tho.. people should be able to arrange their UI's exactly how they see fit.
While WoW was definitely not the first MMO it would be dumb of anyone to deny its success, and to simply deny something because it was in WoW would be idiotic.

Most raids before wow were cc and movement based encounters and didnt really require dps to perfect their craft. Wow changed that. Now to say play however you want I agree with that, but if Im running a grp and you want in and you hit random buttons thats not ok. Its a waste of my and the groups time if you make us fail. Luckily im in a guild and wont need you.

Telling a gamer that he should be able to improve without the use of a DPS meter is like telling a pitcher he should be able to improve without measuring the speed of his fastball.
you dont need to know the speed of the fastball to try and throw it faster then before

If you ever looked at setups on top players in any game, namely wow, you'd see they differed in opinions -and- setups. There would not be huge forums, websites, and discussions if everything was cookie cutter, would there? No.

You tell an app they have a problem, and they scream cookie cutter. To which, we who wonder why they want to raid at all, reply; No child, it's not the game, it's the player.

I think your taking me out of context. And the backhanded, thinly veiled insult that I don't about these things is laughable. I still have a bunch of theory crafting websites bookmarked, and spreadsheets downloaded. Heres the thing - Its all math. The variation isn't as huge as you make out. Patch comes along. People datamine/theorycraft it. Shortly, the most mathematically perfect build/setup comes along for maximum DPS/Threat/Heals or what have you. Deviation from this leads to a loss in raiding performance. No, its not the game, its the people who turn it into accounting and statistics with dragons.

I raided end game WoW mostly pre-nerf raids up to the end of Wrath. Didn't have the time to play Cata. At this stage im sick of how the end game plays out. There is no discovery, no wonder, no adventure. Its math class, and 16 year olds using the word scrub like its going out of style, or men in their mid to late 20's acting like the schoolyard bullies they were to meek to be in the real world.

All I'm saying is that I was hoping this would feel a little more old school and fun. Ive been on both sides of this discussion, I just have my opinion. You get burnt out pretty quickly (In MMO time of course) doing the, shall we say, math thing.

There doesn't appear to a middle ground here. Its all or nothing, and ad hominem insults are being thrown around for sport. It feels like WoW all over again!

People moan about recount being something WOW related.
A parser isn't something new in the MMO genre.

Why not ask yourselves what YOU can do better next time?

Why not tell the dude in the red pool of lava to move?

Why not tell THAT GUY to keep the CC up?

It worked in NAXX vanilla, it'll work in SWTOR
you NEVER had a step in the vanilla wow naxx.

stop telling lies, you look to me rather as a young teenager who probably joined wow on wotlk or even cata. Vanilla Naxx was one of the hardest, tiresome, exceptionally hard DPS based instance, and classic 4 horsemen were The Standard of both coordination and DPS zerg for the entire classic wow.

Again, most of those who oppose DPS meters are incompetent players.

Okay, so you know better than every single pitching coach ever.

What a ******. Go away, all of you. I'm tired now and it's making me crabby. Half of you wont even play the content that requires useful information, so this is pointless.
