I don't get why people continue to have this argument. There will be meters and nobody will force you to use them.

Maybe... Just maybe... THEY USED A METER!!!
Actually, I was called in by my guild on a PUG when they lost a raid member, I had been out helping another guild member, and was using a different weapon to boost a non raiding set of skills. Totally forgot to switch to my staff (was using a mace).

And in case you didn't know it, I have said before that I am personally not against using meters.. I just don't use them myself because I take the time to learn my characters and my play style isn't "raiding" it's more casual.

I get it and I dont really want to be mean here. Seeing people say go back to Wow gets old. Especially when Wow's competitive raiding scene is actually seen as an esport and is some of the hardest content ever seen in raids before when it first comes out. People think wow is for kids, but I would guess to say none of the people saying "go back to wow" actually ever cleared any boss the first month it was out in Wow.

I am assuming becasue its early in the AM and most if not all of us havent gotten in game yet, and its something to do.

That's nice to hear for once. The Meter Mob isn't actually out to get anyone, we just want some data.

Oh lord. This again?

Damage meters will be available once the combat log has been re-implemented into the game. The developers have made it clear that this will happen. There is no point in "ifs" or "ands" at this point.

There will be damage meters.

Of course its a double-edged sword -- people who wish to play casually don't want people acting like ******es to them in Flashpoints because they didn't research their class optimization. They don't -want- to research their class optimization, they want to hit things with a lightsaber.

Some days, I just want to hit things with a lightsaber too. I can dig it.

However, people who plan on being competitive really need this kind of tool to measure and monitor their performance. Just because we researched our class and know the theoretical rotation, doesn't mean it can't use a little bit of 'tightening up'. And from a raid leader standpoint, having metrics that clearly show each of my raid members performance in an encounter allows me to make informed decisions.

There will be DPS meters, because there will be a combat log. A 1st year programming student can write an app to capture log data during combat and parse it. It -will- be done.

The question is no longer should, or shouldn't they exist.

The question is, will we as a community use them in a more responsible manner than has been demonstrated in the past in other games? I hope so.

But don't hold your breath.

Yeah I understand that it gets old when people do that. That was basically why I responded as I did because the argument really is OLD.. we all know that there WILL be meters eventually, because either BW will make them, or some skilled coder will create a tool that listens to the clients chatter and pulls the data out for display.

Eventually.. we will have them, and people will use them. And chances are, I'll still be learning my toons my old fashioned way and get called into the occasional PUG raid because people will know I know my toon decently enough to trust they can ask me in and I won't be the cause of a wipe (hopefully lol).

Anyway.. :-) No worries.

Maybe you could take a leaf at your own book and use intelligence to improve your post.

Sounds like someone doesn't understand the meaning of "game".
