so i started to read this and then had to stop becuase well i dont have all day to read your wall of text when i can sum up your post in four words

I dont like it

so you dont like the game, thanks for typing out a wall of txt to let us know

also i see you said past lvl 18 that mobs become to hard to burn down

so with out reading the rest of your book, i'll guess that as your an ex wow player you think the game is to hard and couldnt burn down the content in 24 hours to get to max lvl

sorry you didnt like the game, im sure mist of kung fu panda will be better for you, as this is a mmo with out training wheels

good luck with your monk and i hope you catch them all
We need RVR in this game, lets make world burn with pvp

Read every bit of your review and sadly agree with it all as would most people who have played it extensively. I was one of those beta testers that spent the better portion of 5 months reporting bug after bug after bug only to see them all go into release.

This thread will surely be locked by the forum moderators but I'm very happy that you put it up on Amazon.com which will rank very high in the SERPs for anyone that searches for a SWTOR review in an engine.

Cheers.

Theres too much fail in this product at the moment, i guess the devs and the moneymen have to take the blame for that one.
I really enjoy reading the 'core fanboys telling everyone who has a legit complaint about this game to ****. I would say the mods should be banning them in light of the fact that they are working against the game by inspiring de-population on this allready dwindling venture.

Heres hoping the devs pull it back.

This is a very detailed and informative post. While it may be long, it explains many of the reasons why I have cancelled my account with 23 days left.

tl;dr: At work.
Yup, me too! I know there are flaws in the game, but I play through them and it's plain fun especially if you are in a guild that has really great people in it.

Call me crazy, but at this point what is the purpose of posting a (extremely long) review of this game (which you didn't even reach max level) on the official forums. I am to understand everyone reading this has an active SW:TOR account and has at least downloaded and tried the game.

Now on Amazon, got it. People will be looking to read before they buy something but on this site what is the point of posting a review from someone who hasn't even reached level 37 on one character, on one faction. Not being a fanboi or anything but If I was reading your review on Amazon and you said you quit after reaching level 36 out of 50 your review would not carry much weight for me personally. Well I don't think on Amazon I would even attempt to read something that long anyway. I just did it this time out of shear curiosity.

But you're entitled to your opinion, good luck with whatever game suits you.

I have read the OPs entire post and every post in this thread to date. I think that his post was well thought out and is his opinion (which he has a right to just as well all do) and thats that. I have not reach any end game content so I will not speak to that, nor do I pvp. I have experienced no "game breaking" issues. I don't know if anyone that has posted here was actually in beta, I was and not just as a weekend tester. I never saw this so called high res/back to low res switch. I do know that in beta there was no bloom button or depth of field and in one build antialiasing was selectable but not implemented. Now all of these feature are available and working. Now keep in mind not every beta group played the same builds, I can only speak from my several months of experiences.

I thank the OP for his time. I also think that it is ABSOLUTELY VITAL that his opinions of the game be seen by the Devs as he is not alone in these feeling, and to reach a larger crowd they need to be addressed. Having said that I don't agree with his assessment of some of the issues he comments on. The things he doesn't like as far as story and to much solo content I absolutely love. I also must say that I distinctly remember when promoting this game that they said you could play the whole game solo (as in main quests) or with a group. I prefer solo myself but last I check I could invite anyone to do ANY mission with me if I so choose. I don't remember them saying that this was going to be revolutionary MMO ( perhaps I miss read the post earlier) I do remember them saying it was not going to be like MMOs people have played before. Now weather it lives up to that moniker or not I think is up to the individual. Some will emphatically say yes/no. All I know is that I love playing this game and I intend to play every story.

Lastly I am sick of people proclaiming the "vast majority " blah blah blah whatever point they are trying to make... <---- The "vast majority" of people will find this annoying

Depnding how your playing the game its probably a good thing he didnt reach lvl 50 or the review might have been infinitly harsher on the game.

I expect there will be smart people who come here to read the forums first before puchasing it, to get a feel of what to expect, so thats a legit reason for posting here.

For all of those people who have been duped into reading this review under the pretense of it actually being a good one, please read BobTheTeepo's first reply in which he, paragraph by paragraph, analyses the OP's review: it's thought out with far more consideration than the OP's, and is the perfect antidote to the unrealistic poison spewed forth by the OP.

I've read nearly every comment in this thread and it AMAZES me how few people are rational. Rationality, or logic, is your friend. Throughout life, this logic and reasoning, to the mature mind, helps prevent any distasteful comments/behaviors from being spoken/written because it helps you THINK before you say/do something. Once you've mastered the ability to consider any given situation and think about it before wildly judging it and coming across as a 'heart-on-your-sleeve' fool, you can then write bereft of emotion and produce the kind of review that holds credibility. Why am I giving psychological advice to someone I don't know? Because I, with rationality, have read this review and seen the utter injustice of it all; the injustice only ever rearing it's ugly head after the OP's excellent introduction takes a nose-dive and his writing is fueled by nothing but his emotion as a result of his blatant lack of rationality and, more depressingly, ignorant high expectations.

Before I write anything that attacks the review any more, I will agree on this: questing is boring. There are not many situations, in any MMO, that I have enjoyed questing >50% of the time. Anyway, this rationality business I've blabbered on about somewhat pretentiously.

Yes, BioWare have been developing ToR for a long time. However, essentially your entire review is a comparison of a game that has been out for weeks, compared to a game that has been out for 8 years! There is no reason to your logic. That is why I am replying. Everything you mentioned in your review in regards to WoW 'beating' ToR is as a result of YEARS of development, testing, practice, customer feedback and the rest.

Yes, you have argued that BioWare "should have learned". That is the ignorance part I mentioned earlier. As a graduate Games Designer and lover of rationality, I'm aware that even building an MMO, getting the servers up and running, and including enough content to even remotely interest anyone is an absolute challenge in its own right, let alone pull off something as incredible as creating 8 seperate storylines with voice acting from start to finish, as well as fill each and every world with more than enough quests to prepare a player for the next; mini-game quests to not only provide a bit of casual fun, but also provide a break from the monotony of mob-grinding; create 3 different PvP Warzones accessible for players of 10 and over (WoW didn't have any battlegrounds! Remember Tarren Mill vs Southshore?) that not only provided more distractions and entertainment, but offered an excellent alternative experience for leveling your character at the same time (WoW did not offer XP for PvP until very late).

I could go on with the comparisons, but we all know that would go on too long, so back to more gibbering on about the injustice of badly-written, illogical, emotion-based reviews.

To be slightly personal here, you're obviously mature enough to communicate in English to a decent level. As I mentioned, your introduction was excellent and I thought the points you'd make would be easy to swallow based on the style of your writing. And to avoid repeating myself too much and making this too long, the content of your review got worse the more you wrote; it was almost like I could see the tears of (albeit unreasonable) frustration seeping from my monitor. You lost your credibility when you just chucked reason out of the window and not only compared the game to a fantastic, 8 year old MMO, but you had only got to the 30s and technically had no right to write a review of this nature.

This review was far, far too early for any of your points to be addressed without weeping to myself about the state of gaming culture nowadays: exploitation of negative propaganda (this review) with the selfish goal of bullying/pressuring developers into grovelling and churning out updates until the you get what you want.

Yeah, you do pay money and so you do have rights; but you can either scream and shout when something doesn't happen to your liking, or you can relax and look at everything with a bit of rationality and enjoy yourself: things can only get better (unless you're SW Galaxies LOLOL)

O.K, i retract my previous post then, I thought only people with active accounts could post on here. I was mistaken I guess. More power to you OP.
